No alcohol for me :-O DRY JULY

Post by ZXRobyn »

If anyone finds this of interest . . . , it would have to be KSRC, where the internet forum has a drinking problem
Yep, you read it right!!
In 3days time I'm off the alcohol for 30days :o
I have signed up to participate in Dry July where I seek sponsors and raise money for a nominated charity, and won't be drinking for the month of July.

Unless of course you buy me a golden ticket, which gives me a drink break, then not a drop for me. Although if I do receive one of those tickets, I will be doing my best not use it. And it's only valid on the date the purchasher nominates, which limits the opportunity to drink.
Some people may think riding around Australia would be a challenge. But for me, I believe not drinking for a month will be a challenge, just quietly. One of which, I do not intend to take lightly and I'm sure will be very rewarding when successfully completed.

GPXTim is also participating and we are going head to head, challenging one another. I'm sure that will make us more determined to successfully complete the task at hand, as well as raise as much money as we can. I'm looking forward to the challenge actually. Further great news is that Jetpilot, Rod has also joined us in the challenge!

I hope you will think about sponsoring me.
Hey nothing ventured, nothing gained : and, if I raise money and dont drink for a month, its gotta be a win/win situation. Anyway anything over $2 is tax deductible, and a receipt is issued to you immediately, via email and only a couple of days til the end of this financial year too. ;)

The link to my profile for DRY JULY where you can donate: https://www.dryjuly.com/profiles/robynoxford
I also have receipts for cash donations.

ThanQ for taking the time to read this and hopefully, for taking an interest.
It seems that 2010 is all bout getting outta the box for me, thats for sure!

Wish me luck . . . I think I might need it :))

WTG girl, good luck with it, so no more humping alcohol bottles for you, ginger beer humps are acceptable :)

18 years of drinking every weekend the occasional blinder & plenty of hangovers, I was an alcoholic of sorts, the good old aussie trend of having a few beers with the mates at the pub every weekend had taken its toll & I was drinking more & more. So I was honest with myself that there was a problem & pulled the pin........ I will never drink again, social or not... the main reason to not drink is because I don't want my children to see their daddy pissed or drinking often like my old mad did... it does rub off you know :?

Best of luck Robyn, GPXTim and Jetpilot :kuda:

I'm taking a shot at this myself, but I'm not sponsored... my mates would rather buy me alcohol than donate any money

It'll be tough though... I have a slew of birthdays and a wedding coming up. Thankfully we've already held the bucks party last weekend otherwise I'd be screwed
ZXR750 -> ZX7R. It's an addiction, I tell you.

Good stuff rob, at least you were able to see what was happening and put family first. I'd be soo much further ahead right now if i didnt spend paychecks on grog when I first turned 18 but ooh well
