zx6r undertail exhaust

Post by kevindinho »

Hey guys,

What are your thoughts of the under tail exhausts for the 05-06 zx6rs? I love the look of it but will the pillion feel the heat underneath them?

Cheers
Kev

No real heat Kev, just good looks 8) the seat pad on mine does not get hot, there might be some heat from the sides but hey what bike does not get hot.

Yes, your pillion will probably feel a bit of heat from the exhaust, but to be honest ..... why would you want to regularly pillion anybody on a zx6r? Seriously, if you want to do lots of two-up work there's much more suitable motorcycles out there.

Pillions are like passive smokers ... they really should buy their own ;)

The heat is tolerable with periodic review; R1s get a fair bit hotter.

Speaking of your pillion, When you get your 6 Kev just make sure you tell them to hold on because you pop wheelies all the time ;)

yer mate i used to own a honda 07 cbr600rr which had an undertail, the few times, and i mean few times i pillioned with that my pillion did say it got warm and the seat was to small. Didnt bother me and i didnt do it much cause the bikes not really meant for it.

as mentioned above there are alot more suited bikes for pillioning, but your not sitting on the back so it wont bother you
anyone can go fast in a straight line,,,,

I have a Leo Vince carbon fibre slipon on my 06 636. Bought it fairly cheap on ebay a few years back. Never had any heating issues with it and pillions haven't complained either unless it was a shit hot day, although my mechanic has placed heat shield above the exhaust.

the under tail exhaust is one thing i like about the earlier 6's
the 2010 side exhaust looks crap
i nearly considered crossing to the dark side (-onda)
cos the 2010 6oo still has the undertail exhaust.
