Insurance- age old question

Post by tape »

Guys,

I just rang 4 companies for my 92 zzr600

AAMI - $618
RACV - $572
Swann - $502
Shannons - WOULDN'T Farkin Insure me cos I hav't had Full comp Insurance B4 on a bike BARSTARDS...

I can't find Arista???

Funny thing is that a ZZR is classed as a sports bike....? and Shannons called it a Large Capacity Bike...lol

So My Question is who is better to deal with??? as in results from claims, helpfullness etc.

cheers

tape...

mate
I use Swann
and as a recent user of their claims services
they were pretty good, assessor gave the go ahead just about straight away
and
they coughed up for a new helmet immediately
and they are cheap..for me!
premium..? less than $200 a year and that includes helmet cover for max $500 with a bike covered for just over $4large
excess on any claim is $400
and
at PI you saw the repair job..your choice of repairer is included
and they covered everything from the pickup of the bike to the paintjob

I have used Swanns claims dept twice in the past 7 years ....
no complaints here
and my claims rating has not changed either....
hth

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Go here for Arista: http://www.icfrith.com.au/html/FirstChoice.cfm
But your swann price looks cheaper than I got from them for my 98 zzr - $554

Response from Arista after my accident was good. No pussy-footing around.

I'd like to throw another in the ring, Famous Classic Car Insurance.

Thats who covered my 03 636. Called them on the Monday after my off and exactly 2 weeks later I'm on an 05 636 with a brand new helmet too, out of pocket expenses $400.00 excess.

They even covered my Micron pipe (supplying a new one for the 05).

The yearly Premium was $795.00 (on rating one) which was the cheapest I could find down here by about $200.00

NRMA....don't laugh but they have the best price I have found for us under 30's. It probably helps that I have 2 cars, the bike and my house and contents with them...the multi policy discount does add up. I have only made 1 claim and I dropped the bike off the Thur before Easter and the assessor looked at it the following Tues. He approved it on the spot then it took the bloody shop 6 weeks to get the bike back to me. Not going there again.
19,500 before the cut out. Can you hear me SCREEEEEEEAM!!!!!!!!!

Be careful of those that look cheaper - they may only do market value and not agreed value.
I know Arista and Swann do agreed value. The others may too but be careful.

I always had everything with NRMA ... car, contents, old ZZR's, etc.

This year the car insurance went up about 20-25% (on a 75 series diesel landcruiser). A guy from work copped a 25% increase on the premium for his BM, and the clincher was a quote of, get this $2052.25 (after a 65% NCB) to insure the 9  The only one worse was GIO who will not offer more than a 20% NCB on bikes regardless of your history

Im going with Swann for one reason....they insure the bike at agreed value....My 91 GPX250R has a book value of only $2500....whereas the condition that its in makes it a $4000 bike...(just my opinion)....so if I lost it I want to replace it with something as good or better.....

for me GBE wanted $209 at market value whereas Swann want $419 at agreed and I get that through Brighton Kawasaki....is better for me i reckon

$348 through Swann for a '98 ZZR600, insured value $8500

As far as I can tell, this is the ONLY good thing about being 40.

...although I think having the bike locked up nightly and living in the middle of nowhere helped lowering the premium as well.

:? i've got my zzr insured with Swann for agreed value of $5K for $224. The zx7r is with suncorp initially for $690 but after i dropped it last year they changed my rating and upped it to $750. Pretty good really, I was very happy with the srevice they gave reference the repairs and i did have the option to choose my own repairer.
Sean
btw i'm not quite 40 but i can see it coming down the road :?
