that R6 which is on bike sales site has been restricted but it's illegal to do so yourself, it has to be a manufacture restricted bike like the lams approved 600's. Anyway like I said only a thought and a silly one at that

Track bike and trailer sounds like it will tame the beasts inside, I'll look into that too.
Thanks heaps people. Talked me out of it completely! Love your work

As to that R6, there was a company that worked with getting new bikes form manufacturers, putting restriction kits in them (these are legal all throughout the UK/europe) and then selling them to learners. They are the full bike, but just have a limit in how far the throttle will open. Initially the RTA went for it, then backpeddled on the idea, costing the guy tens of thousands of dollars as his admittedly great idea had to be shitcanned.
As to the bikes themselves, the owner was given an exception letter that had the following gist to it. The bike was bought by you during a brief time when it was legal for a learner to ride one of these bikes. Due to this the bike is legally registered as a LAMs bike under the following conditions 1) the LAMS compliance stays with your ownership of the bike and the current registration. If you sell the bike, the LAMS compliance does not follow the bike upon transfer of ownership, if the bike becomes unregistered for whatever reason (and the bike remains unregistered for 3 months/the rego was handed in) then the LAMS compliance will not be renewed once it is reregistered.
So you buy it, it will no longer be lams legal. I would recommend you ask to see the exception letter if you are serious about getting this bike.
n.b. i may be wrong, but i remember reading about these bikes elsewhere a little while ago.
