Some things needed for my REX!

Post by Screamin TE »

So a rather dissapointing day today with the rex as it didnt pass roadworthy.

In the first 2 minutes he picke up the following:
both tires
all brake rotors and pads

Quoted me $1500 to replace them all. I reckon i could probably save a few quid.

The replacement parts were oem spec too. I want to at least upgrade the rotors and maybe go for a set of better pads too. Price quoted for just the brakes was over $710 for metalgear parts.

Anybody got any suggestions on brakes and tires?

Cheers,
Chris

ps, figured i might as well fit braided lines to the brakes as well.

$700 for new OE disks - I dont think so Tim. I would have thought they would be more expensive than that. Galfers are around $400 each and they are waaaaay cheaper then OE ones. Personally, I wouldnt go near those cheap ebay disks with a 20ft pole.

I would hate to find out that I'd got a dodgy one while i'm entering a corner a little hot ;)

I have a set of OEM disks, with only 20K on them. I wasnt planning on selling them - make me an offer - I may decide too ;)

TRY a different guy for your roadworthy, it is unusual to need disc rotors, you can measure them yourself the specs are on them, unless badly scored from running out of pads they normally are fine. PadS you can fit ebc for half price of O.E. Kwaka OR pull ONE SIDE front out and compare at the Suzuki shop- usually a lot cheaper than Kwak (TLR & Busa are similar if not identical). Tyres shop around there are lots of people desperate for your business. If you go for new rotors try EBC or GALFER, like the other guys I would hate to find out the Cheap ones are CHEAP on the way into a corner.

cheers,
A.E.

I would be pretty confident the pads are the same, as I have fitted a genuine Hayabusa Front caliper seal & piston kit in my ZRX.

Purchased thru Kwick on ZRXOA :kuda:

Bonus of Aluminium pistons from Suzuki too.

Way to expensive to have bought from Kwaka in Australia.
