I am the father Of Daniel Raphael the scooter rider killed in this tragic crash .
This news has now reached nation wide as well as internationally . And it seems that all riders are expressing similar opinions .

We as a family thank the riding community as a whole for their support.
We lost 4 years ago when Daniel died and persued this case for the safety of the riding community . We tried our best . Sorry we feel we let you down .

Daniel loved to ride ..
I am sure you could count on 100% support from us, but please don't feel that you have let us down, we can only imagine the grief you must have gone through & any one of us would have perused the case as you have, but as I mentioned above it would probably have fallen on deaf ears. Are you going to lodge some sort of appeal, do you have a petition of some sort that we could help out with? what can we do to help?

Feel very sorry for you and all who have been part of Daniels life . The judgement must have been terrible for you after your loss .
Don't feel sorry , you have not let anyone down . quite the contrary . People in our justice system have let you down .
Ummmm let me see

What these guys said. It's got nothing to do with the driver only having one eye, it should be about people being accountable for their actions and if his actions caused the loss of another person's life there needs to be an appropriate consequence. It is despicable that a judge should decide the standard of care of road users need not be high enough to to prevent hitting other people. Our judicial system is appalling and I feel for you for your loss and the fact our legal system has let you down.

Very sad, and all to common.
I doubt the judicial system will ever change though.
At least not going by this - http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/society-a ... -whhi.html

Judges/Magistrates want to keep their 'independence' and seem to be (unsurprisingly) rejecting an overhaul and oversite that would lend some control and consistency.
My sympathy to everyone involved.
If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

+1

this case is a croc.
summary: it was wet + raining and lights of oncoming cars meant i didnt see him.
not guilty? how can a driver be found to have exercised due care, and still run a person over!??!? clearly their level of care wasn't enough!!
un-friggin-believable.
