Give up the smokes for a new hobby?

Post by Jonno »

Well a good friend of mine has me keenly interested in experimental aircraft
I am going to have to earn better dollars now and give up the smokes to afford it along with the bikes I want, but that's the reward I hope. :D

After many years of his annoying aircraft obsession some of it has started wearing off on me especially after he bought the plans and yesterday we visited a group of builder/flyers in Bendigo. We helped put part of one together and seen other types of experimental planes take off/land, it is amazing how lightly built they are and a great bunch of people.

It isn't as hard as it looks to build as it does off the plans, just like a big Mechano set really, I am not that keen on flying it and will let others do the proving when it is finished thank you very much, although I really want to build it 8)

The model we are interested in is a Stol 750 with a modded Corvair 6cyl horizontally opposed air cooled engine, kit and engine approximate cost to complete will be around $25k doing most of it ourselves or save $8k off that making all the pieces from scratch, good thing is they are cheap to run and operate.
Reasons for this model is that it lands and takes off on a dime (bush plane) and going bush is another passion of mine.

This likely will take a few years to get off the ground so to speak but it will be a lot of fun.

Does good wheelies :) :) Good luck with it mate.

Two words that don't really sit well though are"experimental" and "aircraft" :) :)

You could build a f18 if you gave up the smokes!
I`m keen to be a test pilot but we may go through a few planes and smashed bones, cause i got no idea how to fly :D
