What's is easier ebay or forum

Post by Sulli »

Looking at the forum today just in the general section there was 10 or so topics for KSRC merchandise in those topics were probably anything up to 10 pages of responses this is a lot of work for some one to collate orders pack post and process just a thought would it be easier to create an eBay store for KSRC
I realise a few individuals do a lot of work to create and distribute the forum promotional gear but its a suggestion open for discussion

Not just fee's, but to utilise ebay you would need to either put in a disclaimer about a deferred shipment (some may not like that, bid anyway then have a bitch via feedback) and/or put up with randoms and/or dumbshits.

ebay might work if we carried a heap of stock all the time of everything that is sold on the site here.......this is the biggest problem. Most of the runs for merchandise are one-offs over a generally short-(ish  ) time......

My 2c worth - I reckon the merchandise runs should be kept on the forum....

Hence my point about exceptionally long lead times that some impatient bidders may not appreciate.

+1
makes sense to do it all thru here...contact and payment issues can be easily resolved
plus all the stuff with Fleabay gets a charge one way or another...then there is the
Paypal payment setup...more costs, all to expensive
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

It's a good idea Sulli.
We're looking into building a custom online 'store' for the forum that will be live whenever we do a merchandise run, and perhaps to sell off extra merchandise after the orders. It should streamline the process for both the users (as you don't have to type out your order, then come back later and check that it's been added to the OP correctly) and hugely for the organisers / printers.

We thought about eBay, but there's multiple downsides when you get into the details. I think this is the biggest run we've done so far, and it really underlined the need for a new method - the current method was ok when the demand and membership was lower, but it isn't scaling up too well and is now totally unwieldy.

So, expect some fun and games for the next merch run!
