ipod earphones

Post by boozatboo »

Any ideas on what the best earphones are to use with your ipod on the bike ???

I tried just listening to the ipod but the wind was really annoying me...

The ride was bloody awesome with music tho', had to turn it right up to block out the noise...

Sennheiser are very good, the set I have are like these but they dont have the volume control on them, from memory they were about $70 and worth every cent, I now have to just find where I put them!

Haven't tried the skull candy's but +1 vote for the Sennheisers. I bought a set from JB Hi Fi a while ago and they are really good.

you can get replacement foam tips
http://www.earjobs.com.au/index.php/comply/
http://www.complyfoam.com/
that work well. like foam earplugs you compress them and they expand in your ear.

sort of assumed you have in ear plugs.

Mate,

i just got myself a pair of PHILIPS Ear Hook Headphones (Model SHS3200 i think) for around $30

I'm deaf in one ear and can't hear out the other, but these work really well.

thank you... yes we wear ear plugs but they are the full ones... you can't stick your
ipod earphones in the middle of them... they're the ones you squash and wet to stick
in your ear then they expand...

Thanks heaps tho'... these are looking great...

i have a pair of sennheisers that were rebranded as creative labs. They do a fantastic job and i have had them for 4 or so years of regular use and are as good as the day i got them. Fantastic noise blocking, and they give crystal clear audio. I also have a pair of fuze custom moulded earphones ( www.earfuze.com ) still sitting in the packet as i haven't been bothered setting them up/moulding them.

I started with the Shure E2Cs with black olive foams to block out the wind noise. Progressed to the Big Ear BE-2s (http://www.158.bigearinc.com/Products/BE-2.aspx), the main difference being that putting the helmet on doesn't 'knock' them out of place. They stay put, great sound and noise reduction.

I found the ipod or other basic plugs would catch getting my helmet on, and you'd really have to crank it to hear the music. SO the music was loud as was the wind noise (not ideal!).

For about $40, you can get a decent pair of Creative ear-buds, which come with 3 different-sized rubber covers for the ear-plug itself. With the right pair fitted - you can say 'goodbye' to wind noise and 'hello' to Appetite for Destruction !

These are the best value ear-buds for an iPod that I could find. Spend $200 if you want, but the quality of these $40 Creative jobbies is excellent - find them at Dick Smith.
