Hi
Is anyone doing the Wakefield ride day next Friday?
I'll be there, and am going to race the formula xtreme, but I've never been there before and any help with gearing and which way the track goes would be great.

What class and grade are you racing?

bring 4 sets of tyres, 2 sets for me, and 2 sets for you

Its short and bumpy and not too bad.....lap times about the same as Broadford, but more interesting than Broadie....

Here's a video of me at Wakefield on my 600 a couple of years ago during a PCRA race, probably best to turn your sound right down/off

I've entered in the formula Oz C grade, Thanks for the video, it looks like there is a lot more run off etc than Broadford, and turn 1or 2? it looks from the video that you would be braking whilst still leaned over, or stood up or a very short time.

What the video doesn't show is the hill, turn one is really a big kink (where the 2 bikes collide at the start) then you go around turn 2 and from there you start climbing a hill, turn 3 which is another left kink is a good overtaking spot I've found if you run the bike a little wider by staying on the throttle, as you can get the guys that try to stay in hard against the (VERY BIG) curbing, the hill goes all the way up to turn four (the first right hander), then you kind of go across the hill to turn five (2nd right hander) and it's back down hill again, you drop down to turn 6 (the right/left kink) then it's HARD on the brakes for the left hander at 7 which is also the bottom of the hill, (Easy to lose the front wheel here) there is a bit of a left bend then on to another right turn which you run out to the edge of the track on exiting (easy to fall off the track) then down to 10 which is a Hairpin back onto the straight, a good passing spot if your brave on the brakes and again it's easy to run wide on exit if you carry too much speed into the turn. That's my interpretation of the track, the video is the way I ride it, I'm not saying it is THE way to ride it, in fact I doubt very much it is!

just careful on your LHS as there is only really 2 or 3 left turns...and have fun..

Thanks for that, I'm looking forward to the weekend, new track etc, and I think the front brakes will be fixed with the new/second hand calipers, so stopping should be ok now

Quick punters get around in the range 1'00" to about 1'08 or so.

Med-quick punters around 1'09" up to about 1'14" ??

Anything between 1'15" and 1'20" is still quick - but more like the times that ride-day punters get - average ones anyway....

If you can get under 1'10", you are going well.
