My 9 - A work in progress...

Post by macca »

I picked this up (there are other threads but here's another one) a few weeks ago, and the list of things to do is finally taking shape. Here's the starting point again...

Isn't it pretty...

The first thing we did was went shopping for some new horns. These should do the trick:

Tony made a little bracket out of steel that bolts to the top radiator mounts, they don't interrupt too much airflow and they should clear the mudguard on full compression...

One little telltale wire to the relay is the only sign (other than the big fuck off horns) that anything has changed:

Next time you see me ask me for a toot, or if there's popular demand I'll whack something on tubeface. Despite the filenames they're not air horns just little elecrtic jobbies, the only thing in the box is the two horns.

Honk honk...

The next thing that had to go was the 'orrible rear fender, we picked up a second hand one locally and set about making the rear end look cleaner:

Tidy work on the fender eliminator, much cleaner than the stock one.

If you want to pull the indicators in a bit closer in I seem to remember there was a way you could move the spacer onto the inside of the fender so it still looked stock but neater and could be reversed later on if you needed.

I like the loud horns, for under fifty bucks it's way easier and healthier for the bike to lay on the horn button than anything to do with exhaust noise. Check it out...

Well spotted Pinchy, the tyre is indeed on backwards .

The question is, have Bikebiz Granville just put it back on backwards after fitting the new tyre or has the tyre been fitted backwards on the rim? Have had a look and the cast writing is on the left on the rear wheel (the right side of the spokes are smooth) and on the right side on the front. Is the wheel reversible and they've just cocked up it when they put it back on?

Phone call on Monday could be a good idea me thinks.

i think the wheel should have an arrow too, but it may not matter... the tyre should deffo not be ridden backwards :?

The directional arrow can be seen on the rim in the second Pic, towards the top front ;)
