PI Supers Ride Day Death....
just reported....
Motorcyclist dies after collision on Phillip Island circuit
PAUL MILLAR March 1, 2010 - 4:37PM
A 72-year-old man died at Phillip Island this afternoon after his high powered bike collided with another bike during a public ride day at the race circuit.
The collision occurred around 12.50pm. Investigators believe the 72-year-old man, from interstate, was riding a Suzuki GSXR 600 around the track when he dropped the bike in turn two.
Another rider, a 50-year-old man from New South Wales then hit the fallen rider and his bike. The 72-year-old died at the scene but is yet to be formally identified.
Police and Worksafe officers are at the scene and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Why??Wattie wrote:...looks like afterburner will have a short future.

Very sad that this guy passed today, as it is every time someone does, but why would that affect future events? It's a dangerour thing we do, and occasionally this is going to happen. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

RIP to the rider, can only hope I have the balls, back, neck and wrists to be on a GSXR600 on a racetrack when I'm the same age.

Re: PI Supers Ride Day Death....

One of the local boys does the AB track day each year Rob - I am pretty sure he said it is run by the normal operator (PI Ride Days), and it does have normal groups - biggest difference is that you just pay by the session, I think it was $50 a session or something like that.....robracer wrote:Question for those that know........Is the afterburner a Track day with normal fast to slow groups? & who is it run by?
