NSW Blue Slip: Fender Eliminator and small rear blinkers

Post by tim »

The 6 has a fender eliminator and small led blinkers. Do I need to rewire back to the originals to pass blue slip or can I leave these on?

It'll be going to the same garage I had the GS blue slipped at. It was more like a pink slip than a blue slip!

It's all been removed except for wiring as part of other repairs, so now is the time to swap (and then I'll have to swap back).... not too bad tho because I'll put on a slip on in not too long.

It'd be a pain in the ass to swap it now, but more of a pain to put it all back together, have to take it to the blue slip garage twice and change it all over from scratch, only to then put it back when I fit the can.

DECISIONS DECISIONS!

Anyone know the actual LAW re. blue slip and aftermarket parts? I've been warned to fit the slip on AFTER blue slip, but how about blinkers and fender eliminators?

Thanks.

Not to sure about that Tim, but maybe ring the guy and ask him if he'll pass it with them on.

It shouldn't matter ..... but........ mine came from Qld with Micron, fender eliminator and the small indicators.
Blue slip guy didn't even want it started ......... was very careful about VIN and all lights working, though ...... dontknow.gif

Ok thanks guys...... I'm inclined to try without changing them over. I'm hesitant to ask him about it because it will draw his attention to them.

You might be up shit creek with a fender eliminator.
The law is something like the rear fender should be at an angle of 45 degrees to the rear axle, or some shit like that. Not something the cops would normally hassle you about, but going for a bluey is another thing

My old R6 passed blue slip with both fender eliminator and LED blinkers. so dont think most places will give you any hassle. As pointed out, as long as all VIN and engine numbers match, and all lights are actually working, I dont think you'll have many probs.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

It really depends on who you get for the blue slip.......if they are a motorcycle workshop they could knock you back, as they know the rules and don't want to have their licence in jepordy.
I personally would leave the OEM one's on till you get it passed then put the new one's on later, I know it a hassle but it would be more of a hassle if you got knocked back

Rego..... thought this bike was ya tracky Tim ;) ........if ya go to a car inspection joint they prob won't know as long as your numbers match and your lights work......... however because your bike is less than 10 years old the RTA prob wont accept just the blue slip and will haul you in for a full pit inspection, but they mainly want to check VIN numbers etc, so ya still might get away with it.........

It's not that hard to pull it apart again if you get knocked back, so I would leave them on and see how you go.
