After reading the responses I dunno if I would like to be around you blind as bat bastages on a bike , actually I am 20/40 hindsight and 10/20 foresight and I have 1 son that says he is blind as 2 bats and cant even read a number plate from 10 paces and another that lost sight in one eye from a serious infection. Look after your eyes, bat2 son HAS to wear corrective and he doesn't, I paid a fortune getting him contacts and it was worth it as image to a teen is everything.

I can give you first hand knowledge on this one.

My glasses fit snug inside my helmet, when i came off, the visor detached and the glasses were thrown clear out, giving me a slight nick near the temple on the way out.

there are pros and cons for each, the main being that with contacts, your eyes can dry out and things go blurry fast. thats why i went back to glasses after trying contacts for a while.
but with glasses, losing your eyes in a crash is a real possibility.

I wear glasses all the time (at my last eye test my eyes are actually getting better, I'm less shortsighted then I used to be ) and don't have a problem wearing my glasses or my sunnies inside my helmet. I've had two offs in the last 12 mths (at the track) wearing the sunnies and haven't had a problem. I used to wear contacts when I was younger, mainly for sport, as I found they irritated me when I used to work in airconditioning all day long.

What is the difference between having to wear prescription glasses and wearing sunnies in an off? And how many of us do not wear sunnies? If you believe glasses to be dangerous then sunnies would also be dangerous.

Laser eye surgery. I know a few people who have had it done and all are still very happy they had it done. I've heard private health care covers some of the costs now also.

I think it depends on your eyes and how contact lens friendly they are!?

Personally I wear/prefer 14 day disposables over the specs
Why?
>Do not bounce/blur on rough roads/high speed
>Less hassle putting lid on/off
>Better peripheral vision

Down side:
>multi day events / camping can be a bit of a hassle contacts
>If you get turbulence inside your lid you can dry a contacts out pronto/loose one!!

None - equal problems.
I think Cath was referring to me in her story - and I was wearing prescription sunglasses at the time.

If you can get laser surgery I suggest you do.
If you can get contacts I suggest you do.
If you can't do either of those (like me) you suck it up, buy helmets that fit around your glasses, and accept the extra problems that may occur in an off. In my case an arm of the glasses broke and caused a small cut behind my ear (2 stitches) - bled enough though that I had a few people worried.

If I could wear contacts, I would! I am allergic to the solutions used to clean contacts, so it isn't worth spending $$$'s on them. I looked into getting a prescription visor, but at $5,000 I quickly forgot that idea!

My wife has the same problem so she is using a salene, (salt) solution and that works just fine with no allergic reaction. You might talk to your optomitrist about that if you want to wear contacts.
As for me my eyes are 20/20 at the young age of 64 so I don't have to wear anything. Must be the Jim Beam.
