Problems - PROTON FLUSH MOUNT TURN SIGNALS

Post by woo9 »

Hi guys

I just replaced my factory 250R front indicators by PROTON FLUSH MOUNT TURN SIGNALS.
However, the rear indicators are keeping alltime lighs-on without flashing. Then i test it to put the factory front indicators back on and the rears working good.
Anybody has similar problems? how to sort it out
By the way, the PROTON FLUSH MOUNT TURN SIGNALS are much nice than factory pairs

cheers

Sounds like the new front indicators are of a different ampage to the standard ones. This can cause the flasher cam to freak out like that. So, either replace the rears too, or buy a cheap resistor (not a relay) to trick it into thinking they are the same ampage. :)

Curious .......... protons blurb says they have "internal load-balancing" to prevent fast flashing. Maybe yours are faulty ....or ????

Easily solved by the electronic relay Marty....... they don't rely on what wattage the globes are, you can mix & match to your heart's content. In effect they are just electronic timers set to give the correct flash rate to pass the standards ;)

When i had my LED indicators hooked up i came across the same problem. Just bought a cheap socket and hook with the same wire from LED and it worked fine. You may be able to do the same and place the socket with globe under rear seat...

I recently had to replace an indicator globe. As would have it, the shop only had some low wattage thing. It's turned my RH indicators into rapid flashing. So, I still think a variation in front to rear wattage can effect it.

I started work on my ninja tonight and when i replaced the front indicators they worked ok. However when i changed my rear indicators i then tested how it was functioning the back indicators turn on for a second and then turn off. The whole thing seems to be going nuts. I opened my seat and found the flasher relay (i think) and it was making a strange sound when i changed from left to right light. I took it off i'm assuming i need to buy another relay. So it seems to be a regular problem with this bike when you change the lights.
