SA Salk Lake Speed week

Post by photomike666 »

Until recently I didn't know Aus had salk lakes, let alone did speed runs there.

Now, normally I don't see the point in going fast in a straight line - corners is where the fun is. However, I do harbour the ambition of joining the double ton club - an officially timed 200mph.

Details of this years speed week are here.

So I'm thinking, for around $350 entry fee I could have a go next year. Now, what would it take to derestrict and power up a ZX10 to hit the magic double ton (320kph)? Officially it should do 300kph anyway, so an extra 20 shouldn't be too much work. Perhaps we could even have a KSRC team/challange?

Dissapointed Mike, thought you'd be having a crack in the Kombi, not the bike :)

Lake Eyre is the largest salt lake in the world! I think they've had runs at both Lake Eyre and Lake Gardiner. Not much else to see tho and it's bloody miles from anywhere!

Did someone swap the k's and t's around on your keyboard Mike?

Have spoken with Nobby a couple of times about getting out to Lake Gairdner . It would be quite an experience . Altho I think there might be a few more expenses than the $350 entry .
Why not have a crack at the stock record for 1000cc bikes Mike ?

Sprocket change, lowering links, pc111 and a 40 shot of giggle gas should do it.

I'll get the rules and regs for stock bikes and see what needs spending on the bike. Might have to find a sponsor

Some of the rules are nots. Battery housing must be metal and secured - OEM product my not be suitable. Chain guard must be sturdy metal - OEM product may not be suitable etc etc etc. It won't by much of a production bike.

Rear brake is mandatory - but front brakes are optional
