John (Mornington Kawasaki) and I were at Phillip island for the last two days trying the new control slicks, wow you don't realise how much side grip you get used to with the Ntec's.
They seem a good tyre, longer life than Ntec's but get slippery after about 20laps for me and I heard 12 laps for the fast guys, I think alot of people had front end chatter problems and was difficult to get rid of in some corners but I think we got it right by lunch time yesterday, and the bikes now feels like they did on Ntec's. The fast guys were doing 1.35's and most others 2-3 seconds slower that on N-tecs.
John had a nasty accident at lunch time yesterday with Shannon Johnson coming into MG corner with Johns leg getting caught on Shannon's back wheel, it was pretty crap for both of them, with John a very sore leg, hip and arm, and concussion (yep another helmut) and it looked like Shannon had a broken arm (although it was not confirmed when we left), which this close to the start of the season and the factory KTM ride sucks big time.

Re: New control slicks for ASBK
Glad to here Shannon didn't break anything, I don't know him very well but have talked to him about my ZX10R quite a few times (it was his when he rode for Kawasaki) and he has always been very helpful and his advise a couple of times on track pasition and set up has been spot on. I hope he is ok for round 1, and would have to be favorite for Super stock A.
I spoke to John this morning and he is ok as well just sore and bruised.

Chris Trounson will be riding the SS"A" bike, Shannon will have an Aus SBK spec machine, the bike he was riding at the island had a stock engine from a roadbike and std ecu.zxrno1 wrote:Glad to here Shannon didn't break anything, I don't know him very well but have talked to him about my ZX10R quite a few times (it was his when he rode for Kawasaki) and he has always been very helpful and his advise a couple of times on track pasition and set up has been spot on. I agree with your comments regarding his ability, I rate him as one of the best riders out there, what he did on that CBR600RR last year was nothing short of amazing

Ok thanks for that, well if Shannon was on a stock bike doing 1.35's it will be great to see him on the full spec onePhil wrote:Chris Trounson will be riding the SS"A" bike, Shannon will have an Aus SBK spec machine, the bike he was riding at the island had a stock engine from a roadbike and std ecu.zxrno1 wrote:Glad to here Shannon didn't break anything, I don't know him very well but have talked to him about my ZX10R quite a few times (it was his when he rode for Kawasaki) and he has always been very helpful and his advise a couple of times on track pasition and set up has been spot on.
