You can't inconvenience the rest of society to account for dickheads like this. No matter what rules you bring in these types will most likely ignore them anyway.

Unfortunately, young people are more likely to be risk takers and are far more prone to doing stupid shit to impress their friends. Chances are, many of us were similar at that age, but were lucky enough to survive long enough to develop some sense of responsibility. I know a few students that have just left school that are a major accident waiting to happen but no matter what anyone says to them they think they are invincible and that it will never happen to them. It's this attitude and the stupid risks they take that are the problem, and the government thinks telling a risk taker they can't do something because we will punish you is supposed to stop them from doing it. It just offers up more of a challenge. :? For these people they need to change their beliefs in order to change their attitude. For that we need far better education and training before we let them behind the wheel of any vehicle.

5 people died instantly in a xr6, think it was 2 brothers, another brother, a friend, sister to 1 brother hurt
and i am not sure on the other.
just think that those families are going to be plagued by that for the rest of there life.
and the poor girl who survived was found with 2 dead bodies on top of her.
R.I.P
just think it is a tragedy
yes a tragedy for family and friends and a horror for the cops, firies, SES and paramedics...
but you cant do anything about stupidity

why so?
the police released further info tonite -
the 19yo driver had a number of speeding convictions and was due to front court again ( obviously impossible now)
on further speeding charges. In addition, because of the previous motor vehicle convictions, the driver's licence was subject to
certain conditions...including a MAXIMUM OF ONE PASSENGER AT ANY TIME

so what do we have ...? 6 in the car  and 5 dead
maybe somebody should given the silly karnt of a driver a gun and told him to go away and try that

and FURTHER
tonite police also released details of P plate drivers caught doing 170 in an 80 zone -
TWO P-plate drivers caught drag racing at 90km over the speed limit have had their cars impounded.
Police spotted the cars speeding through red lights and cutting through traffic on Burwood Highway between Morack Road and Springvale Road just after midnight last night.

One of the drivers – a 20-year-old from Springvale South – was driving on a suspended licence.
The other driver – an 18-year-old who had had his licence for just six months – laughed at police when caught.

I have met one of the kids involved, wont say who.
When i found out he had died in this accident i wasnt particularly surprised. When i met him he was boasting about how many cars he had had impounded and how many times he had been caught by the police doing stupid things.

According to him his friends were worse. But he was quite proud.
I took it as a young guy showing off. Perhaps i was wrong.

It is a sad day for sure, but all day i have been wondering, how the hell does a 19 year old buy a 2009 XR6?
Thats an expensive car!

What a waste..

Some people are heroes and some are just shit drivers, no awareness...tunnel vision like the camry drivers around eastwood (trying to not be racist) ;) . i remember driving with my dad down blaxland rd and balaclava at epping this chick literally turned into the car in front of us, head on collision??? seriously WTF lucky my dad kept a safe distance to avoid contact. I think its pretty unfair for the young drivers/riders who actually do the right thing we get fucking jipped. i don't know how i'm going to afford comprehensive when its time to get a bigger bike :(
When i grow up i want a ZX6R just like Rob Racer...

150kw / ton???? Why the fuck have any restriction at all???
My first bus was an astounding 62 odd Kw Gemini and that was still more than enough to get me into trouble!!
Like riding a 2 fiddy with the big boys ---- corner speed was EVERYTHING ,.but it taught you how to drive / pick the correct lines.

Unfortunately , regardless of any restrictions applied , unlicenced drivers / unregistered/stolen vehicles will still kill young people given the opportunity -

condolences to the families - absolutely tragic

That incident is tragic.
Speed does not kill.
Anyone can speed and not crash.
Driving at speeds you cannot handle, in conditions & areas where it is not safe may kill you and/or others.
Speed can certainly be a contributing factor in any crash.
Most crashes involving young people are probably caused by not concentrating, low skill levels/inexperience and taking unecessary risks.
I have no statistics to back this up, it is my opinion, but I am tired of the government blaming speed & roads for everything.
People need to take responsibility for their actions and unfortunately, in cars, the consequences can be fatal.
King Nicholas. Keeping it unreal.

It's a tragedy. I know nothing of the circumstances regarding the crash, or the history of the driver.

I can assume a lot of things, but it all means shit when 5 people have lost their lives, when the fault is most probably squarely on one.

I did some dumb shit when I was a young driver, I'm quite fortunate to be here today in a lot of ways, not just from driving, so I wouldn't want to say too much about the driver in this instance.

I think it's pretty stupid that Provisional drivers can drive such vehicles though. The top speed of any LAMS bike would probably be about 170 at a push, these cars can do 250+ without any problem at all. Their acceleration would probably smash any LAMS bike too. I think that's something the government should probably do something about. Might cost them some votes though, so I guess that will never happen.

Anyway, thank God someone came out of it alive, from the images I've seen it's a miracle she survived.

+1 been there. Dunno about being too responsible tho.

I am not surprised about this accident in the "Autobarns fuzzy dice SILVIA territory". I also know of the car in question and seen it a few times doing stupid dangerous shite, this guy also had blood alcopop level of 190.

The Mill Park, Thomastown area is rife with hoodied hoons and unmarked coppers chasing them (Just drive past Dalton Road Maccas at night), they are everywhere in comparrison to the eastern suburbs (unlike Dandenong street drags of the early 1980's)
I stay over that way often (about 3kms from the crash site). Any night of the week you can hear them zippin around to all hours, the main thing that pisses me orf is not the turbos popin off it's that they chase the buggers in the helicopter a few hundred feet above the house at 11pm, then 2am, then 3am etc :x

Imagine an angry Jonno in his boxers givin the copter the finger in the search light.
