(sez me who also has a combined car bike and heavy vehicle licence...)

Exactly correct.

People - you have ONLY ONE LICENCE.

It has MULTIPLE CLASSES.....if you are like most normal punters who ride a bike and drive a car....

You don't have a bike licence, and a car licence, and a medium/heavy truck licence.....

You have ONE LICENCE - with multiple classes. Like Smitty, I have 1 licence, with seperate classes for vehicles up to 4 tonne, motorcycle, and Medium Rigid vehicle up to 12 tonne. Points accrued on your ONE LICENCE effect every class - ( with the exception of P-plate classes as in this case ).

Hope that clears up any misconceptions for January 2010.

I fully expect this same question to be raised during each of the next months, right through to about, oh, 2189 !!!

A bit off topic, but I received a speed camera fine, they put cameras in vans up here and park the vans on the side of the road (normally at the bottom of hills, behind bushes or just after a change of speed zones), we don't have many fixed cameras up here, but anyway the point is that I was doing 73 in a 60 zone (is it surprising that the 2nd penalty level starts at 13km and over) and because the ute is registered in a company name the fine is $1,000

This has gone up from the $500 is was last time I got one (about 18 mths ago) and is to stop people just paying the fine and not having anyone lose points. Guess I'll have to sign the form and say I was driving and cop the fine (about $250) and the points
