I hope the link below works.
4 lives - a woman and three young girls - were lost on SA roads yesterday. The scene was one of total devastation.
The copper in this video is my boss. He's a commissioned officer and has over 20 years experience in the job. For those of you who think coppers are only out to raise revenue for the government, I implore you to watch this video and tell me that this man doesn't give a fuck about the road toll:

He did really well to hold it together
When it comes to kid's getting hurt, we're all bowls of jelly
Fixed camera's are revenue raisers though! you would still be doing 150 long after you got pinged,
because you wouldn't know you got pinged for week's after
I could not do your job Ardy
I'de shoot some fucker

Re: Gulp
I don't know how you guys and girls do that job - I certainly couldn't do it. My thoughts go out to everybody involved from the family of the deceased, through the injured to the emergency services personnel.

Re: Gulp
Yep, stuff that for a game of soldiers, you guys can have that job all to yourselves.
That's tragic, and he did a good job to hold it together.
FWIW I don't doubt that you guys are going to continue to have to deal with this stuff because there is no genuine legislative will to change the behaviour road users.

Re: Gulp
It always amazes me when I sit and watch news like this where Emergency services personnel have to give details to the media of an incident while they are still on the scene. Trying to be respectful to those that have been injured or died, giving appropriate information to the media about the incident, all while holding back emotions that bring the best of us to our knees. It’s a sad fact that these sorts of incidents occur, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to turn up to such accidents, maintain you composure and still do your job.aardvark wrote:I hope the link below works.

I have the up most respect for Emergency services personnel. It’s not a job many of us would handle for too long.

Do you have a better idea of how the accident happened yet? Seems a strange place to T-bone someone from what you can gather off the footage.

Tragedy is never easy, whether you get paid or not doesn't come into it, but I know what you mean, Paul.ducati_paul wrote:I know it doesn't make it any easier but at least you get paid to do that job! how about the CFS guys that had to witness the same tragic scene?
I'm a bush firey and I have seen things I will never forget. On Xmas Day just gone, I missed my lunch cause I was putting out a house fire at Glossodia.
The reaction of the family when they arrived home to find the only things they have left in this world were what they were standing in. Very sad to see.

Re: Gulp
The SES guys and girls here pull people out of cars all the time in winter.
One of my mates from St Johns pulled one of his mates out of a bad one. I guess one of the problems with being a volunteer in your local area is that now and again you are going to come across someone you know.
Late Edit> Should have mentioned he's also in the SES as well as St Johns. St Johns in Victoria don't attend car accidents.
