stung on the way back from holidays!!

Post by fadz90 »

hey guys,
im just curious to know...
they caught me on radar on my ute doin 94 in a 70 zone, i got $338 and 4 points, the thing is in feburary im supposed to get my full license for my riders license so im still on my red p'z (to the old rta rules)

when i pay the fine, i still keep my drivers license but because i can only gain 4 points on my red's and theres no tolerance to speed on your red p'z, do i get suspended on my riders license and ill still be able to drive my ute?

i think if you have enough points for ur car license you wont get affected, but if your car license gets suspended your bike one goes as well.....I think your ok or if you want to be sure don't pay the fines until after you get ur fulls (bike) or else you might go on that 3 year new p-plater scheme! hell i would even elect to go court just to delay the processing. How long till your fulls fadz?

yeah, i agree with kev, if you dont acutally lose your car licence, you should be fine with the bike licence.

ring RTA to check but, problem is they probably wont know and will try and brush you off telling yopu to pay the fine and see what happens.

You will find that you will lose your licence for three months straight away if you are on your red P's.My other half's son got done for 68 nin a 60 and lost it for three months.Yes you do have four points on your licence but any speeding fine no matter what the speed is a min 4 point loss.He got done on a saturday and had the paper in his hand wednesday saying loss of licence.I thought what a crock of shit for that speed a full licence driver gets one point loss.I looked up the RTA website for the above info.

Best of luck if you dont lose it

the thing is i got caught on my drivers license while drivin my ute and im on my greens for that so i can lose up to 7 points, on the rta site it says i only lose my bike license if i get caught speeding with the bike.

or i can lose them both if i exceed a total of 7 points while driving, so i think i should be alright, ill just wait for the letter and see how it goes.

but thanks for that,

Thats the orig 3 weeks, if you don't pay before then you get sent a reminder notice giving you another 3 weeks, so you have 6 weeks before they start increasing the fine....

I'm confused as hell about what you're asking, but wanted to say congratulations on coming on here and not bitching about being caught!

Hope it works out for you.......

yeah but it gets complicated when you have P's with 4 points on your bike and a car licence with 12 points on it.

if you got done on the bike, and lots the 4 points you would possibly only loose your bike licence not your car aswell. its a bit wierd.

but when you have your full licence on all of them and you run out of your 12 points, you loose the lot.

sorry about the confusion, this is straight out of the rta site for ym record. i think this answers my question best.

"Both licence classes will be suspended if your total demerit points reach or exceed 7.

The P1 class only will be suspended if you reach or exceed 4 points for offences committed while using the P1 class. "

since i wasn't using the bike, techically i shouldnt get suspended?

You got pinged by a copper with a radar? if so then you'll get two notices after the hand-written jobbie from the copper.

Firstly a blue one stating 28 days or so to pay, and then a red one, stating another 28 days to pay before it is deferred to the sdro collections dept and extra $ for them processing it, etc. This is all pending on the copper pulling his finger out and submitting the paperwork on his end promptly. I ended up waiting 3 months for my blue notice to come through as the cop must have lost his infringement booklet under a pizzabox or behind the couch or something.

If it was by an automagic camera, the waiting for the first notice need not apply as the first notice IS the blue notice.
