Trailer upgrade

Post by laidback »

Wanted - thoughts on trailer options...

I have a bike trailer that currently has 3 channels for bikes and I would like to update to a solid floor with the intention of later fully enclosing it. It is made from rectangular tube 50 x 50 frame and 50 X 25 internal cross members @ about 400mm intervals.

I see the options as:
1. Marine ply
2. 2mm Steel checkerplate
3. 3mm Alum checkerplate

I envisage (thats a big word after a few Bundy Op& coke) using something like trailermates to locate bike.

Would appreciate feedback. :kuda:

Option 3 + trailermates
Steel is heavy & might eventually rust so I would stay clear.

+1

I've a marine ply deck on mine, it lives outside 24x7 and it's beginning to delaminate after about 18months

Thanks guys. My only problem is I have heard that all these options can get slippery when wet. Is there any way to prevent this?

checkerplate is as grippy as you will get.

unless you went with a gridmesh, its open and quite grippy, but you will get all the spray up underneath from the car.
