handwritten receipt, with vin number, rego, engine number, date of sale and how much, one copy for each.

you take the rego paper, expect the slip that they take to the RTA, make sure the back fo the papers is all filled out by both parties.

hand over the cash/bank cheque and go to the rta the next day and put it in your name 8)

get the seller to add that it's free of any encumbrance (I think is the expression) no finance, etc.

Re: REVS
Just be aware that a REVS check is not worth as much as commonly thought.
The REVS check can give you a bit of info about the vehicle.
It will tell you if it has any money owed on the vehicle (encumbered) in NSW, ACT, NT, QLD, VIC and SA.
It may tell you if it has been reported to the police as stolen
It may tell you if it has been recorded as de-registered by the RTA due to outstanding fines
It may tell you if it has been recorded with the RTA by an insurer as a written-off vehicle
It may tell you if it has been recorded by the Commissioner for Fair Trading as having possible odometer interference.

If you pay for the certificate, the vehicle will not be repossessed due to owed money. Paying for the certificate guarantees that part only, not the other info they can provide. The info on whether the vehicle is stolen or has been written off is not guaranteed by paying for the REVS certificate.

Enjoy your new tracky! :D

To be thorough, names, license numbers, addresses as well as "with all faults, if any" to reduce the chance of legal recourse if the thing grenades it on the first corner for some absurd reason.

Revs may also tell you that your bikes been registered with the wrong engine number... No kidding... the 6 had been registered incorrectly since it left the showroom floor
