Licence.. how long will it last?

Post by climbatize »

Well I bought my ride in September and after I rode it home from Ballarat I did contemplate, how long could I keep my licence. Well, for me, it was 3 months. The idea of riding around on a race based bike is an entertaining idea but, unfortunately I lacked the throttle control to keep it at the speed limit.

The cops were reasonable yesterday. My end can is ridiculously illegal and I got done at 48 over the limit and was able to ride home. Anything over 45 gets impounded.. at Preston. Long way from the SE burbs. Despite the searing heat, grog testing, drug testing, I managed to keep my cool.. and it really does pay off in regards to how cops treat you. Six months will be tough without a licence being a truck driver but I guess it's just a kink in the road. My missus wants me to sell the bike but I have convinced her the car is bigger and more expensive.

Take it easy on the roads out there guys, because there are thousands of cops ready to catch you and also lecture you.

End rant.

No license at all means not only trailering the bike there, but needing a chauffeur to do said trailering, good luck with that :) And i'm due in court Jan 22nd to argue a speeding fine that I have from March this year :) Hoping to get it adjourned once more should then put it past the 12 month expiry date :P
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Thanks for the understanding replies. The money I save in petrol will hopefully lead to track day.. my mate has been buggin me for ages. Get the trailer and we sweet! I did get a 200 buck gift voucher for Peter Stevens for chrissy, so that's going to better gear.

i know how hard it is with a 7r, the thing just wants to fly, but hope the 6 months goes fast for you, my mate on his gsxr1000 got done for 121 in a 60 zone a day b4 the dd. So he has a nice $1407 fine and 6 months wait till he can get back on the road.

I was just showing my wife how sexy your bike is too.
She has kindly offered to take it for a spin for ya. You know, just to keep the battery charged etc...

Mate, it sucks about the 6 month holiday from riding.

Re your hopes of pushing your other matter past the 12 month date. I assume you are hoping to put it over the statute of limitations (for a summary offence - 12 months)? If that's the case you are only delaying the inevitable as that only applies to when the charges are issued (ie - must be within 12 months of date of offence) not to any proceeding court case, so if you have already been issued with a summons it doesn't matter how long you delay it.
