Wow this has been going a while!
IMHO I am a big fan of people accepting responsibility for their actions. Nelso, is relatively happy to accept consequences albeit the ridiculous cost ! Which I agree is a pretty crazy amount for a bloody car trailer!
However, if you contravene any laws suck it up and accept the consequences, at the end of the day everyone is responsible for their own actions and should be able to accept the consequences of such actions. Whether it be speeding, phone usage, expired rego labels whatever...... It is the INDIVIDUALs responsibility to comply or accept whatever penalty is issued, you don't have to like it and probably wont..... that is the whole objective of the system.... to prevent people from contravening the law !
Now before anyone accuses me of being some crazy ass hippie / goody goody two shoes.... over my younger years I have had a shit tin of fines, licence disqualification etc, was I happy about them at the time.... well, disappointed that I had to shell out the $$$ but I broke the law and accepted the consequences for my actions...... I have also been the benefit of police discretion..... such as speeding, rego label (my own laziness.... label was in the centre console

) , conserving front tyre wear on the '05ZX6R.... However I look at these as fortunate situations.... and always found that the best approach is to be straight up and honest, genuine and polite when interacting with police..... I have only received a fine twice from an actual cop, the rest have been camera's....
Do i still contravene laws? yes... I'd generalise and say that most bike riders break the law everytime the throw a leg over a bike.... things such as.... illegal modifications, non compliance with noise regulations, speeding etc..... It is one of those things that because there is a penalty when ppl get picked up for it generally feel hard done by and that it is not fair etc etc.... I'd point out that IMO Nelso has not been a whingy prick about it, more just posing a question for public opinion... However there is certainly a decent chunk of members that feel hard done by for having the law they broke enforced...... As aardy has said.... it is a voluntary system

If you don't like the conseqeunces don't contravene the rules ...... but hey that is no fun, so just man up and take it on the chin like the majority
