Thank you HWP
This is not a HWP bashing thread, complete opposite. Yesterday I went for a 600+klm loop to Rlystone and back via the Putty and Bylong road. Left home at 6.30am so I could be back before 3.
Heading back along Bells line around 1.30pm I am in the 80klm section just coming up to Bellbird Hill where it drops back to 60klm/h when HWP goes the other way, I am exceeding the speed limit (had bee going up to 20+ over on Bells coming back and was just buttoning off) I see the HWP think too late I am screwed, I see him brake and figure he is turning round. Looked to pull over rather then make him chase but nowhere safe, figure will pull over at the grass carts on Kurrajong hill. Didn't get that far as a truck was doing about 5klm/h when HWP comes back with lights and sirens, I acknowledge him and indicate to pull over. The car and truck in front however pull over right where I intended so I had to park on their arse. I get off the bike and take off the helmet and advise the car in front that he is most likely after me. HWP waves off car and truck and proceeds to walk towards me. I am getting my licence out when he says we are being recorded so anything I say will be on tape. Unfortunately he has to say it twice as I still had my ear plugs in. HWP advises that I have been pulled over for exceeding the speed limit. Asks if I have had anything to drink, well I had just stopped off in Lithgow for lunch and had a beer lunch as the bistro is not open on Mondays:cursing: Do the breath test no worries. We start to have a chat I acknowledge my speed and advise that I believed I was doing somewhere between 85 and 95 (figure no point lying now) he says I was probably doing more and if he had caught me about 500m back up the road he would have got me for more. I admit he is probably right (figure no point arguing).
At this point in the middle of our discussion where I am thinking how much is he going to do me for, a knuckle head shows up and starts saying I was this close (gesturing about 2 inches) to the centre line and how close he was to hitting me. I ask what are talking about as the officer advises him that he is handling it and he should go on his way. This knuckle head says "you know what I am talking about you were very close to the centre line and when I saw the police coming after you I turned around to let you know" At this point I think fuck you, I am standing next to a guy with a gun I might was well tell this pin head where to go. So I ask pin head was I over the centre line, silence is the reply I say well Constable dickhead if you hit me it was you who would have been over the centre line. As close as I may have been I was still on the side of the road". At this point the HWP after the third time of advising him to get back into his car says he you don't get back in your car I will come and see you next!
Anyway as he walks off the HWP says there is always one I said look mate I was waiting for you as I knew you were turning round if I could have pulled up earlier I would have, he said don't worry about him and look take it easy there is a blitz on etc, etc, however if you can wait until that other car goes before putting your helmet as I am walking back to my car to make it look like I am giving you a ticket so have a nice day! Too fucking right have a nice day and best wishes to sir.
HWP are like humans not all are bad.

Re: Thank you HWP
Sounds like you got off easy Nick, but realistically, he was probably just thankful that you pulled over instead of twisting the wrist and nicking off.
I have to ask tho, would you still have been thanking him and embellishing him with respect if he'd written you a ticket (after all, you admit you were in the wrong) or would this be yet another unjustified cop bashing story?

Re: Thank you HWP
Thank you for your cyncism, to answer no I would not posted a cop bashing story the whole reason of the thread was to point out there are officers who when treated with repsect will return in kind.
I acknowledge I speed occassionally and also accpet the fact that if I get booked I only have myself to blame and also why I happily admitted I was at fault to the officer for if he wanted to he could have gone over the bkie, it is a repairable write off with rashed up fairings and no regoabel as it fell off when nearly lost the number plateM
But thabk you for your biased twist on what was meant to be the opposite how you chose to interpret

Re: Thank you HWP
Be careful last time I did one of these threads I got a speeding ticket in the mail from a different day & date.
It was the first ticket I have had since 1992 so they don't get much out of me.
I am a big believer in a friendly foot in the bum for a minor one off mistake.
Not everyone will agree though....the joy of a public forum.

Re: Thank you HWP
I don't think there was any twist involved. The norm around here is for people to have a hissy fit when they receive a ticket and the coppers are the enemy of the universe, but when they get off with a warning the police are the 43rd best thing ever after pandas, wholemeal bread and cowboy hats.Naked Twin wrote:But thabk you for your biased twist on what was meant to be the opposite how you chose to interpret
I don't believe I insinuated anything by my response, I simply asked the question.

Re: Thank you HWP
And that is exactly why I started this thread. You will find I do not partake in cop bashing as many do, some seem to think that the police should only do their job when it applies to someone else. I wil go on record and say that police are underpaid and to expect the average officer to act differently to the average person is ignorant

After every one gives you their two cents worth you should be very well off financially.aardvark wrote:Don't suppose you want to chip in and support my pay rise?Naked Twin wrote:I wil go on record and say that police are underpaid
I will happily give you my two cents worth as well but due to the coin circulation it is now rounded down.

Can't believe it!
He clocked you at 20+km over and let you off?!
You should've got his name, chased him up and sent him a bottle of Whiskey.

Re: Thank you HWP
Naked, I too went 600km's yesterday, and only saw 2 HWP's.... one had a car pulled over, and the other was you. I was heading the same direction and I saw the weird guy (looked like a hippie to me, no offence intended) who looked very aggressive. Glad you had a good experience this time, and anytime there is a HWP around all traffic seems more sedate for a few km's at least. I know that I slowed down a little. Cheers Alan

Re: Thank you HWP
So I was the fall guy for you Alan, sweeping the roads of possible problems? Small world this motor cycling, I was trying to work out what you were on when I came up behind. Yes I think he was a hippie who hadn't had his morning smoke.ALinACT wrote:Naked, I too went 600km's yesterday, and only saw 2 HWP's.... one had a car pulled over, and the other was you. Aardvark I would donate but as you are in SA and I am in NSW it would benefit me little (selfish I know) and in any case I tried to make a donation to the local police and they knocked it back. Also want to say on reading my original post I can see why you would think that if I had got booked my post may have read differently.

Re: Thank you HWP
Nick, thanks for being the fall guy.... I was on a ZZR1100 without the lower fairings, and with a picnic/cooler hamper bag as a seat bag. Not motorcycle pretty but very effective. I'm heading home to ACT from Newcastle via the Bylong Valley, so hope I'll have some luck but it does look like I'll get wet. Not many HWP's that way either.
cheers, Alan
