Unmarked Police motorcycles set to patrol Qld roads

Motorcyclists heading to Queensland over the next twelve weeks should be on the lookout for unmarked police motorcycles.

Queensland Police launched a three month-long safety campaign to cut the number of bikers killed on Qld roads on Sunday.

The “All Bust Motorcycle Campaign” would see police use unmarked camera bikes and cars, to catch speeding bikers, in addition to activities using marked vehicles.

Police minister Neil Roberts says the move is necessary after the number of motorcyclists killed on Qld roads hit astronomical proportions in 2009, the highest level since 1984.

Other measures planned for the campaign include the promotion of the Bikesafe scheme, and the launch of a motorcycling-focused website offering riding tips and suggestions on the best routes to ride.

John Pavett, inspector of Qld Police, says motorcyclists are attracted to Qld in their droves by low traffic levels and good biking roads.

“This high volume of motorcyclists using Qld roads increases the possibility of poor riding standards, and subsequently the number of injury road traffic collisions.”

Several riders on the Brisbane forums have been pulled over by an unmarked black Triumph S3 on Esk-Hampton Rd and Somerset-Kilcoy Rd. The bikes look completely stock, but fitted with sirens & flashing blue lights (hidden under the body work, very difficult to see unless they are on). The riders aren't wearing police uniforms, but are carrying official I.D. and paper work.

BMWs Ducatis yamahas ...the difference here appears to be that the riders are in blue uniformed leathers
(not plain clothes)...only the bikes here are unmarked iwth hidden lights and sirens

Trying to reduce deaths from motorcycling is always going to get my support as long as it's done correctly.......and covert operations do nothing except raise revenue. The best way to slow anyone down is to have a visible presence, not sneaking around. How does that increase safety ? Seeing a black Triumph S3 in my mirrors, trying to catch me, would just encourage me to stomp on the gas and give the idiot a lesson in speed !!!


The above quote is also pretty interesting. Basically, Insp. Pavett is insinuating that those motorcyclists attracted to Qld because of the low traffic and good roads, are NOT Qld natives ! and this influx of *attracted* riders ( attracted from where I wonder ? fucking Tasmania ?? ) - is the reason that there are more deaths, because of the poor riding standards of all these blow-ins !!!

What a cop-out (boom-tish) - this clown actually blames motorcyclists from outside Qld, being somehow responsible for the vast number of deaths up there ! Of course, local Qld motorcyclists are not in any way to blame for these deaths, are they ?? At least, that is the *impression* he is giving.......

Ah how nice of them, they will give us the routes which we should take for good rides, so now they are going to funnel us all through the zones where they want us and keep that camera ticking over nicely!

I have been saying for years if the Police in ANY state want to slow drivers down then be visible, just like what Saki & Gosling said. I even got the chance to say that to the District Inspector for me area. He claims that being hidden would slow people down as drivers/riders would be wary. I laughed and told him every time someone sees a cop car or bike, they slow down. He agreed to this, so I said why not have bright coloured cop cars everywhere and ban unmarked cars/bikes completely.... AND not sure how they do it in other states, but with our speed cameras up here the Police have to have a sign displayed saying Police radar vehicle. Our boys & girls in blue have the sign hidden in front of their car, that you can't see until you have passed them.

Just raising more money for Corrupt Anna Bligh and her league of thieves.

"AYE"! It's all revenue raising for Capt. Blight and her crew. Unfortunately, baiting people to speed, or overtake on double lines, etc etc is perfectly legal for the police to do here in Qld. That move to NSW Tweed Coast is looking more and more inviting!

Unfortunately it's just as legal here for them to do it as it is up there. Though there does seem to be a bit less of a heavy push for unmarked vehicles here (though they are out & about).

Funny note though.. I was doing a delivery yesterday, was waiting to drive the truck out of a company's driveway in a narrow one lane street and a Chrysler 300c drives along and then parks pretty much opposite in the no standing zone so I can't get out. I tooted, he didn't move, so I jumped out of the truck and knocked on the window.. oh hello Mr policeman.. Hard to go crook at a cop in an unmarked cop car lol

I would just bail out on this hole Queens Land concept all together and let the indos take it. It's not worth the bother since this schoolies thing started and everyone there started thinking they where cooler then every body else. Some photos of these un-marked police bikes would be interesting to see also.

Just thought i'd let everyone know... the unmarked bikes here in QLD are actually the exact same make bike as the normal marked patrol bikes...

I've had encounters with two of them

1 X Silver
1 X Maroon
Both Yammy FJ's.
both with hidden LED blue & red lights... but te lights are bright enough when they are turned on
