just recently the law was changed to allow other certifying bodies. Helmets must still have a sticker saying they comply to the AS standard, it just doesn't need to be the 5 ticks one any more.
No the sticker hasn't changed, you've been ripped off and your helmet is useless. Throw it away and get another one...... Size 60 Phaark you've got a huge head.
And White and Gold????? Go metro man
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

No, it still needs a sticker from an approved certifying body saying it complies to the AS standard, so you can't (legally) bring a helmet in from overseas.
Also be careful of the cheap chinese ripoffs with dodgy certification stickers!

you wont be allowed out if you do....
are you saying that my helmet will not get me on to a race track when I race?
I know of some guys (one a neighbour and the other a car club mate) who have not been allowed out on a dirt bike to race (neighbour)
nor go drag racing as their helmets were missing the 5 ticks (still has the AS sticker but no ticks) Drag racing mate also had Snell
and BS stickers..but not allowed out on the strip

so check first!
Is that because the rules prohibit it or because the officials are not up to date with the new standards testing rules?

my guess would be the latter, but it could also be their regs not caught up with or reflecting the law change.
PCRA (as an example race meet promoter) always check the standards sticker & write down the individual number found on the end of the silver sticker.
This system has been used for years.
Now I dont know what the go is with the sticker that Russ has but there is no ID number on there so you would most likely get turned away, unless the system has changed................ I haven't raced for 3 years so whats the go these days?
I think the sticker on the helmet in question is one put there by the manufacturer, not one issued by Standards Australia to show compliance with AS1698. As such it is probably not legal.
At the bottom of the first page is the new AS sticker. You'll notice it has changed slightly, but it still has the five ticks and a serial number.
A major issue with wearing something like this and having an accident is that it gives your insurance company and the TAC a stick with which they can beat down your compensation and insurance payout.
