Toolkit and Manual for '07 zx10r

Post by grunge »

Hi Guys,

I haven't posted in the boards for a while, but I need some help so I'll ask the knowledgeable people at KSRC. :)

I just upgraded from my '06 636 to an '07 zx10r, and the guy I bought it off doesn't have the toolkit and manual.
How easy would it be to source one? Or is it worth it at all? (In terms of quality etc etc...)
I've contacted Peter Steven and they've quoted me $30 for the manual and $90 for the toolkit, to be imported from Japan.

Any advice on this before I splurge on these items?

Thanks guys! =)

Make your own tool kit. It's cheaper and probably more useful when you actually need it!!!!

Get the manual only becuase people ask for it when on selling it. All the info can be found readily on the net so the actual info access isnt the issue.

Hmm... thanx for that Blurr,
now just wondering, because I'm a n00b anyways, what should I be looking to get to put an adequate toolkit together?
I'm looking for one similar to the ones that come with the bike, I guess.... not that I used it much... I mean, I only used it to adjust my chains once. =P

I have the 06/07 (10r) workshop manual as a pdf, its 14.5mb.

If you want it, shoot me your email address if your mailbox can handle that large an attachment, or we can work out a cd and snailmail.

With regard to the toolkit, others have the right idea...make up your own out of QUALITY tools...the tools in the kit are NFG. I can take a picture of the contents if that helps you decide what tools to include.

Mike,

I think I'll take you up on that offer to get a pic of the toolkit taken if it's okay. =)
This way I can put one together with some quality bits instead.
Wattie, I'm not really looking to buy one but more to know what I should be putting in my back seat so if something were to happen, I'd feel safe that I can somewhat mcguyver things together so I can get to point B.
As you guys can tell I'm not too mechanically minded so am not sure where to start.
Any tips appreciated. =)
I do know that one tip i got was to make sure I have 2 sents of 12mm (or was it 10mm?) spanners, to make it easier to adjust the chain.
What would more help would prolly be telling me what some pieces of the toolkit is. =P
Thanks again guys. =)

Otherwise, I have both owners manual and tool kit from my '07 - if you want the pair for $30, they're yours.

Cheers,

I don't have internet access ( work in IT, so I'm happy to get a break ) on the weekend, so I'll take the pic and post it up monday.

see the post below your reply ( greenman43 )...that's a well priced solution to making your gumby complete.
