Mel's gone mad...

Post by Mel »

OK so I probably already was... :kuda:

anyway it's been nearly a year with the nine (and she just turned 100,000km yesterday! ) so I'm thinking of upgrading... again...

I had a turn on an 05 GSXR1000 yesterday... and I really liked it. I found it to be more comfortable than the crim, which surprised me. I hopped on board and just went and it fit me great! I had been thinking of getting a new ZX6R but after riding the GSXR I think I really need 1000cc... OK well not really, but I want it!! And then this arvo I rode an older R1 and quite liked that as well...

So... I am having problems with the idea of getting a non-kawasaki... talk me out of it!!!!!!! The GSXR is a bit ugly... but I don't see that while I'm riding it...

The bug is also a contender, though I really like the 08 colours better than the 09. I am yet to ride one though... is there any real difference between the 08 and 09?

Also... how much do you reckon I should put on my 9? It's got 100,700km on it now.

I didn't need to get a Gumby but I am sure glad I did.
It was definitely a want thing but has transformed into an addiction.
When a lovely cager killed my Z750 I was not sure whether to go ZX10R or GSXR1000.
I found a Gumby at the right price with every option I wanted so my decision was easy.
Remember, you don't buy a thou for comfort.
Tyra is a fiesty bitch and that is a part of the reason I love her.
I have only ridden a few bikes and everyone talks up their own bike but for "oh yeah" factor, take a Gumby for a test ride and see what you think.
It may feel better than the Crim and it may not but there is only one way to find out.
As far as price goes for a 9, I have no idea.
Good luck Mel.

Get the gixxer. Unless you can fork out enough for an 09 R1.

I have offered it to her for a ride, but i think the wind will be a little too much for Mel....

Offer still stands Mel, but i have the feeling that it will turn you off Naked bikes. Loads of grunt, not bad handling but the wind, im not to sure for you????

Hmmm . . . . , Nah, I can't talk ya outta buying non kwakka Mel.

Why? :?

Simply cos in all honesty, if it was me shopping . . . it would come down to how much I wanted to spend, comfort, handling etc etc, after I had test rode all options;
. . . and if I wasn't buying a new bike, then it's whats available and when (I won't say where, cos you'd ride anywhere to pick it up lmao -- fact 8) 8) ) and for how much ... the old, right place at the right time sort of thing. ;)

Having said that tho . . . . . I have to say, :D

YA GOTTA LURVE THE 9 !! :supz: love4.gif love7.gif
I LURVE MY 9 !!!! :prayer: love5.gif evil6.gif

ps. Just a heads up Mel, but .... watch out for Phil and his ZRX antics. He can be very influential. Forewarned is forearmed hey sista !!

Yeah, thanks for that, ridden em both in anger have you  .

Now, I can understand how riding and new (or near new) bike would impress, doesnt really matter if its Red, Green, Blue, Red, blue, italian or whatever.

My advise would be to ride everthing - everything that takes your fancy - all the big bikes - faired and unfared to see what you like.

If you were going to buy the perfect bike for the riding you do you would just go and get a GTR14, so lets not get too sensible eh ;) There has to be some passion behind the decision.

When you comming to sinney next Mel, wanna have a go on MY ZRX  :kuda:

No, I wish though.

But,

Is where I get my response from.

The gixxer was obviously well enjoyed, and liked. And a mate used to have a K5, he's a suzuki nut, and really rated it. Like Mel said, apparently it was really comfortable. However, I've also got a mate who has an 09 R1, and reckons its the best bike he's ever ridden, and he's ridden a few, had an 08 R1 and says the 09 is an entirely different bike. So if Mel quite liked the older R1, she will most probably love the 09. It's not just my friend who thinks that too btw, as you would know it's received incredible reviews, so obviously people that know a lot more than my friend, and myself, rate it too.

Right, so your mate said it was great  ........All you proved by that last post is that any bike thats 10 years newer and done 100K less will be sensational copared to a well used mount - that Mels current (or any bike she owns for that matter) is.

FWIW, I have ridden all the bikes you speak of - and yeah they are all good. In fact they dont make many bad bikes these days.

That's right, I never did get around to having a turn on your ZRX Phil!

I think the only modern bike that I have ridden and NOT liked was the Triumph Sprint. Some I have liked but would not own, like the Z1000 (want fairings) and the ZX12R (too big and heavy for me). I'm yet to ride a fireblade... that is on the list of things to ride, as well as the 08/09 ZX10. I'm not sure why but the gumby just doesn't appeal to me... (though I'd happily take one for a ride... perhaps I should do another trip west! :kuda: ) Guess I'd best get my butt on a new R1 too... why not a new GSXR while I'm at it LOL

Thats the spirit, why not go the 1198, MV F4 1000, and V4 RSV-R as well ;)

Oh, BTW, my bike is a little different to last time you saw it ;)
