Re: Who is getting helled for their ride?
my wife is good, her dad has been riding ever since she has been born, so she grew up with a dad that white line raced all the time. he has had 3 accidents and walks with a limp coz of them. my mother inlaw told him he isnt aloud to ride, but he is still buying another bike.
So i dont cop much for riding, just a be careful and thats it. apart from that its the same with russ, she hates when i spend more time on the bikes then i do with her and the kids.
My mother still worries but thats what a mother does. Just say i will and walk out jump on the mighty 7 and have fun. worry about the rest later.

Do as i say, not as i do.
Pot calling the Kettle Black.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Sounds fun. In all honesty i'm not surprised, given that "daddy's daughter" often gets treated like she's made out of glass. Fortunately I've not had that inflicted on me/us too much.

The popular conception is that you only live once! How you choose to do it ............
Don't get to the stage you wish you did
Get to the stage been there dun that what's next
I enjoy it so much I've infected others
My passion for bikes of course

Re: Who is getting helled for their ride?
Two final pieces of advice
It's better to regret something you did than something you didn't
Do you want to turn up to the pearly gates all prestine, or slide in sideways, completly knackered shouting, "What a ride".

Well, i'm absolutely astounded by the amount of responses here. Cheers.
Thanks to Nick who said; 'You should be thankful you have people who care.' I really wish I cared more.
Cath, my parents are very understandable when it comes to my decisions. My mum simply told me to 'take care' before I ventured off from Aus into Myanmar/Burma.
To be quite frank, I don't think Chinese people will ever understand high powered motorbike riding in general. The people in China would drive cars if they could afford to because the roads are so deadly for motocyclists. I have riden bikes in Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Tibet, but riding a bike around Chinese major cities is certainly dangerous and undesirable.

Unfortunately she has not fully grasped my love of my overly loud ZX7R and riding in general. Only time will tell. She has not even been on the back of it yet after 1 month.Strika wrote:Mate, I hate to tell you this, but if you are getting the "Sell your bike" talk from your "Fiance" at this early stage, then I would suggest that once married, she is going to become even more controlling of what you do! I'd be sitting her down and having the serious chat that goes something like this!
"If you want us to remain partners, continue our relationship, get married, maybe have a family and live happily ever after, then SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT MY BIKE AND DON"T EVER, EVER EVEN THINK ABOUT ASKING ME TO SELL IT! ARE WE CLEAR?"![]()
I hate to be negative, but it sounds like your Fiance' is on the path to attempting to control you! I'd get that in check real quick before it gets out of hand! If she really did love you, then she would understand the passion you have for bikes and would leave it well out!

And good on ya for doing Myanmar. We did over 8 months backpacking through SE Asia, but never made it to Myanmar. Whenever we get together for a ride, I wanna hear all about it

Cath, you are a fair distance away.. but it could happen.. and I look forward to it. Although, it would seem we have enough trouble organising a VIC ride

Re: Who is getting helled for their ride?
I had to compromise with my wife. I used to have a ZX10 road bike. I sold and she said I could have another, but prefered I didn't ride on the ride. Enter, the track bike!!climbatize wrote:Well it's more venting than a question but if anyone has had/is having similar experiences feel free to share.
As of late I have been getting a heap of shit about the recent purchasing of my ZX7R, namely from my mother and fiance. I had been on a fair stint overseas and had a CBR250 garaged up and only to want to get rid of it once I was back and get something a little more feisty. Naturally! However, this black beauty of mine has landed me plenty of lecture time on my/our current financial situation. It has come to the stage where I ALMOST feel guilty for taking my noble steed out for a squirt. If you live at home, you may get the 'Ride carefully' thing, but family is going to worry regardless if they know what you are riding.. and its big. And loud. I know an upgrade requires a decision in relation to available funds but my fiance even came right out tonight and said 'What about you sell the bike'.. Utter horror. I've been thinking about selling my little, white, turbo, Toyota GT cage, that I also love dearly, over my ZX7R. Decisions decisions.
Does anyone else cop this shit?
It is probably the reason for sale for a quarter of the used bike market, but i'd like to hear about it.

Re: Who is getting helled for their ride?
Well a track bike can get quite expensive.. so good luck with that. Why did you not keep the ZX10 and just track that? When you think about it, a ZX10R is a very fast bike to be riding around on suburban roads.

Re: Who is getting helled for their ride?
Great attitudes in your family Corvus.
My wife doesn't really love the bike but never complains and never stops me; she knows I love it. Wanted to get a cruiser as well, but she wants decking & a spa first - fair enough.
The mother at 80 years old just keeps nagging the shit out of me to take her for a ride.
80 years old, ZX14 with no grab handles - not really keen. Guess I'm being selfish.
My wife and I give each other space to do the things we love on our own, and time doing things together that we both enjoy - sweet!

I know the tracky may get quite dear, but hey, I compromised. Besides, I can go faster on the track and have truck loads of fun!!climbatize wrote:Well a track bike can get quite expensive.. so good luck with that. I sold the 10 to buy her a nicer car and pay for her engagement ring.....

Re: Who is getting helled for their ride?
+1, no problems here... She won't get on the back (even to go around the yard), but understands that it's the one thing (apart from all my gadgets) that I'm into, and leaves it be.corvus2606 wrote:I must have struck it lucky
I bought a bike, much to my girlfriend(now Fiance)s distaste, but she accepted that its something that i enjoy. I thought that the olds (mum in particular) would be against it, but no
That being said, I'm currently selling the little 250 so that we can properly save for a house and have some fixed costs (like public transport
