Dude paint the side panels in 2 pac satin with the radiator covers and the peg hangers.
Where ya boot rubs on the hangers put a little carbon one for protection.

go the charcoal black powdercoat then. If the bars are a bit low, fit dirt bike risers - they go straight in the existing holes when you take the one piece one off, and look more custom. Cost me 60 bucks for black powdercoated ones for the fat bars I put on my z. Hopefully you'll keep the screen tiny - I've seen them use the original screen cut down around the lights, just big enough to hide wiring.

Re: z1000 drag bars, twin headlight
well... i now know why the comment about the drag bar was brought up... went for a blat, loved the possition but the vibes around $1.10 were nasty.... so i went on the hunt for some alloy bars with a similar bend...
came out with pro taper tucker rocky se carmicheal blacks(ref02-5296) they are about the same draw(56.4mm) as the the drag bars but 77mm(total) rise... so i took out the spacers i had added under the stock clamps, cut about 40mm off each end of the bars and fitted them up.
this leaves me with more room for fork height adjustment and cable possition... and hopefully the vibes are gone now as they are alloy, not steel
tis a shame though, i was really digging the look of the drag bar..
also got the headlights wired up and tidyed up the cables and wiring
now just to wire up the blinkers and mount the dash and screen
newzthou, thats the plan with the screen. trim up the stocker as small as possible just enough to cover the dash. i have a new screen coming from ebay to mess with so i dont have to alter the factory one
will post up some pic's of the new bars soon
now to put my flame suit back on for the told you so comments
cheers

I swapped the stock bars on my zed for flatter wider tag bars but wish I could go lower again and slightly narrower (fro splitting).

Re: z1000 drag bars, twin headlight
i had drag bars on the ZRX11 a couple of years ago .... had to use 1" risers to get them to fit. loved the position but changed to low rise Coerce bars on the 12

Re: z1000 drag bars, twin headlight
Its an interesting look, I'll give it that! Not quite my thing but each to his own, hey??
I have wide ABM bars on and for me its a wide, low position for my short a$$ (5 ft something, can't remember), so I can't imagine how much of a reach the flat bars are!
As for the rear sets, go the powder coat. I had mine done and I don't regret it, these bikes look great with the bottom blacked out and a different colour on top!

Re: z1000 drag bars, twin headlight
the ABM's are what i previously had, they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay nicer then the stock bar, will keep a hold of them for some long distance duties...
do you have any pic's of your powdercoating?
cheers

Mate, can't really give you a verdict yet. They have been painted about 3 months so nice and hard now.
It's like any surface finish in 2 pac, same as a car, it's how it was applied and how it has been looked after.
I have some small pieces of carbon left over at work so will probably tidily place small pieces on suceptable rub spots on the rearsets.
Push comes to shove, if they wear I may just paint em again.
Hope this helps

Re: z1000 drag bars, twin headlight
the spp risers i got had rubbermounts for the bottom - might hep with the vibes on the flat bars. Also the old " add lead shot to the inside of the bars" trick gets bandied about, but never tried it.
