Riding Gear

Post by Peter »

Has anyone got any suggestions about leathers that they have found to be good quality yet not too expensive ??

What price range / budget are you hoping for?
"not too expensive" is pretty relative...

Road: 2008 Z750 - Kwak
Track: 2006 ZX6R - Yoshi (with a very Genki undertail)

Collins - I have are a good set for under $1000, were made with Kangaroo leather. They have been tested twice and came up well considering both were 80km/h+ slides. They are quite heavy in comparison to other brands.

I believe the new version is lighter though, not sure what they are using.

Champion ride days are selling second hand teknic ones for $600, link is here - http://championsridedays.com.au/portal/ ... ew/27/109/ They look like good value but best to check.

I just bought the Collins set for around 7-800 and so far I am happy with them, albeit I haven't come off in this gear and I am in no hurry to test them. Very comfortable, feel like good quality and best of all made in Australia.

Several members have crash-tested teh Collins leathers already, so no need to B-Ry!

Peter, I reckon you should definitely give the Collins guys a call (their website is usually shockingly out of date). They are very good quality for the price

Different brands, fit differently.......... The ones at the right price may not fit and the ones that fit might not be the right price......... You need to do some leg work and try lots of different brands on..........

My experience is that the taller you are, the greater the available brand choice...... I'm not that tall, so I had a pretty limited choice.

When it comes to safety gear I think it is ok to go a little more expensive, if the quality is there.
I have one body, have had one off and thanks to quality gear I came away with no severe damage.
Something for you to consider.
