Lake Illawarra Cops & Community Car/Bike Show 2009

When: 25th October 2009

Where: Kembla Grange Racecourse, Kembla Grange (Wollongong)

The Lake Illawarra Cops and Community Car/Bike show 2009 is well into the organisation phase and is set for Sunday the 25th of October, at the Kembla Grange Racecourse. This will be the third year the car show has been held, with last years show again proving a success with in excess of 200 vehicles entered in the show and more than 2500 spectators attending on the day.

The 2008 show also exceeded its fundraising aims and as a result of the generous support offered by numerous local businesses and community members the Lake Illawarra Local Area Command was able to present a cheque to Headway Illawarra to the value of $6000.

The show is being directed at younger drivers with the aim being to educate and encourage these drivers in road safety awareness, correct driver attitudes and appropriate behaviours whilst using the road network.

There are numerous road safety advocates attending who will each be promoting some aspect of road safety and deliver a message in their field of expertise and provide alternatives to things like illegal street racing, vehicle modifications, etc. There will also be a large display of emergency vehicles including, Ambulances, Fire Brigade, SES.

Entry will be a gold coin donation with all money raised on the day being donated to Headway Illawarra. Headway Illawarra provides a range of support and advocacy services which are specially designed to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people living with an acquired brain injury. All sponsors for the day will be recognised on the official event shirt which will be given to entrants on the day.

Entry is still available for cars with the entry cost being $25 before the 15th October and $40 after the 15th October including entry on the day. The first 200 vehicle entrants will receive a event shirt.
