My bike is apparently not too bad, fairly big dent in the tank, bars are ruined, indicators broken, instruments smashed up, and rear cowl scratched up pretty bad. not sure how close it is to a write off.

I fared about the same, with a lot of road rash on my stomach (despite wearing my jacket) torn up knees, very sore neck, and a very sore toe.

I was riding along, keeping an eye on a car in a driveway to the right that i thought might pull out on me, when the most horrible sight caught my eye, the pajero(i think) to my left which had stopped for another car, had apparently not seen me, despite my best efforts, and pulled out in front of me out of another street. then he saw me, and stopped dead, right in the middle of my lane leaving me nowhere to go. I got on the brakes hard, but with very little warning and space, i didnt have much of a chance. I laid the bike down on its left, and proceeded to be somehow flung over it, and it goes fuzzy after that. going off the damage to my gear, and what onlookers told me, i landed on my stomach, and slid, with my head somehow making contact with part of his car, my helmet has taken a very solid hit above my right eye, enough that my visor came off, and my glasses flew out, and then sliding to a stop 10m later, somewhere in this, my left foot contacted the ground hard enough to cave in the toe of my boot, and impact the joint in my left big toe. I became aware of things what i thought was a few seconds later, badly winded and unable to breathe, and feeling sore all over. but it must have been longer because my bike had been moved off the road, and i had accumulated a small audience.

the firies arrived not long after that followed by the ambulance and police. after the obligatory breath test, an entirely unpleasant experience when your unable to take a deep breath, the ambulance took me to canberra hospital, where i was checked out to find out exactly how lucky I was. My knees were grazed, and i had a bit of gravel rash. and some sore muscles but no serious injuries. a stiff neck and extremely sore shoulders and back muscles, and a badly bruised toe, no head injuries at all, neck is fine(if not a little sore).

so after getting cleaned up (the antisceptic and scrubbing is worse than the accident) i have been sent on my merry way a lot sore, and a little saddened by the potential loss of my bike. but in the grand scheme, i walked(hobbled) away from a potentially disasterous accident.

ahhh jesus mate, i am glad your better than your accident sounds! Sounds farken terrible. You described it really well too, i can just see what it owuld have looked like now.

Thank goodness your ok tho, bike can be replaced and as much as you might think it does, it wont feel any pain

Glad nothing serious for you, but sometimes those 'smaller' injuries take longer to heal.

From what you've said I suspect the bike is a write-off, but without seeing it who knows. Often the tank dent is enough to write-off, but you've probably got bent forks and who knows what else too.

But you're ok, and you get a new bike
Did the Pajero get charged? or are they charging you with that arse-about rule that basically says you ran into him?

basically, at this point i have no idea. Im pretty sure the blame is on him, but that will come to light this afternoon when i go to have a chat with them and find out what the deal is.

basically, the bike only slid, as far as we can tell, beyound hitting the road, it slid to a relatively gentle stop, so forks should be ok hopefully.

Sorry to hear. As said, bikes can be replaced, you will heal ok. Not good about the Gravel rash though - leathers are worth their weight in these situations.

Sorry to hear about your off, hitting the car with your head sounds bad, thank god it's only a sore neck. Have you got anyone with gentle hands that can rub those sore muscles for you

If she manages to get me to let her touch them (bloody sore at the moment, can barely lift my left arm at present), im sure she'll work magic

on a less positive note, the police report apparently deems no fault on either parties part. apparently everyone figured i must have been speeding(despite the van in front of me) so they are kindly not charging me for speeding, but they are also not charging the other driver for failing to give way. So she gets off clean.

they are also not giving me her details so i cant lodge my insurance claim

hopefully Swann will be a little more decisive, if i ever get the other drivers details

Good nothing serious, hope the insurance turns out well...... If not it Does sound like you could get your bike goiing again but making it like new wouldn't be worth it.

Not releasing the other party's details sounds suss - it's a requirement/law for insurance details to be handed over on both sides I thought.
That decision sucks (similar happened to me) but at least they're not charging you for something not your fault. They sometimes do this when fault isn't too clear to save work and save on potential court costs.

issue is that it sould be very clear, failing to give way is failing to give way, no ifs or buts about it.

the bike wont be going again, im told there is some internal damage to the gear box, and with a cracked engine case aswell as the tank, its a write off.

now i just have to manage to convince them that it cant possibly be my fault
