The 06 looks almost identical to mine when I brought it - Appears to ba the same deal too -- ie bloke with $$$ and midlife crisis/SDS buys litre bike coz he can , buys all the bling coz he can , then sells it coz he realises he's gonna kill himself on it without the required experience.

Wild speculation but that's how I got mine ;)

FYI I payed $16,500 for the identical bike with 10,000 km nearly 3 years ago.

Wattie's right re Crim vs Gumbie but Gumbie more comfortable for longer rides and still gets you into plenty of strife!!! (he's a bloody purist that Wattie bloke  ) :kuda: :kuda: :kuda:

The Black one is nice but bear in mind I only paid $12000 for a 2007 14 ;)

Get out there and ride them. Only you will know which one suits you the best. Wattie is a far better rider than most of us and has the ability to handle a ball tearer of a bike and use it to it's potential but that doesn't mean you will feel the same about it. There have been plenty of people sell the bike they thought would be perfect for them within the first year, after they found out they couldn't live with it. Different models have a different feel to them and some will fit you better than others so my advice is to be patient and get out there and ride everything you can get your hands on before you decide. It also gives you an excuse to see what all the other bikes feel like to ride.

Some interesting advice and ideas so far guys.
All of the models people have posted at lower prices have been outside Victoria (I don't think we have bargains here) so maybe I will have to forgo my desire to get back on the road asap and wait until a better deal comes along.
I don't have a car so that is going to hurt and I am itching to ride again.
A part of my identity is missing!
I will continue to check this thread for annther week or so and let you all know which one I lean towards once I have checked them out and if anything better appears online (in Victoria, near Melbs).
Wish me luck!

PS This is the best problem I have ever had!

Blurr when he had his Gumby took it touring... May be worth a read?

Ive never ridden the 05 but I like my 06! As stock was pretty slow to respond down low but fixed that with -1 tooth front sprocket and GIPro with TRE (Timing Retard Eliminator). Responds better from down low now and doesnt sacrifice anything you need up high on the road. Bike is awesome! Love it!

Mate!

You still messed up in the head from that knock you got or what??

It wasn't that long ago when you posted this;

http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 08#p395908

Then you got cleaned up by a car?

Which you have my sympathies for. 8)

So in a few months you have gone from (in your words) complete inexperienced rider with one or so mentoring session to being experienced enough for a 10R with most of those weeks recovering and no bike?

Seriously 10R's are not for the inexperienced, anyway it's your call, just ensure the nut holding the throttle is secure 8)

For your body size another Z750 or better still a current model 6R would be perfect and you would be more confident on that and learn a lot more IMO, take my advice or leave it 8)

Best advice is to listen to those that know your riding! Sounds like some test rides are in order ;)
