Write off's

Post by StuMiller »

Do anyone know where you can find a list of repairable write offs? How do you go about finding this sort of thing out?

As I'm still looking for a ZX7 or ZX6 I can turn into a tracky.....

Cheers

I guess you could look for the insurance companies auctions, forums, ebay

or here

or you could buy one of my trackies and save yourself all sorts of hassles :kuda:

I found one damaged ZX6, but the frame looks rooted. It appears to have a hole in it.

How do you go about getting these things assessed and / or repaired?

make when looking at write-off that they are "repairable" not "Statutory" write-off's if you ever want to register - otherwise frames can rarely be fixed if they are written off - unless you are happy to bog!!

source two bikes to make one - or look for a frame at wreckers :)

I reckon it's often cheaper to buy an existing tracky, rather than buy a wreck and convert it into a tracky. The costs can really add up. It's one thing if you budget for a set of race glass, some rearsets and bars, only to find the forks are bent and the frame isn't straight as well - the budget just got blown!

That bike is seriously rooted, if you have a look at the swingarm there would more than likely be damage to the main frame etc as well.
That one would require a total strip down & probably new frame, subframe & swingarm....... hardly worth the effort :?
