Dude dont use WD40 ..... it will penetrate the o rings & eat out the lubricant you desperately need to keep in there ;)

Kero is the preferred cleaning substance for chains, get a brush and paint liberally, give it a rinse with a hose when done, let it run for a bit and re-lube, reminds me might have to do that come Monday, after I get my new rear tire on, got a flat today for the first time ever :(

Owned 2 motorbike puncture kits once upon a time, never had to use em, now NFI where they are..
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

About a week into riding I met a guy with the same bike as mine at the shops after work.

We struck up a conversation, and couldn't help but notice his thumb was wrecked and sewn back together. He had no nail, thumb was shorter than it should be with a fresh scar in a big y-shape from the top down.

I asked him what happened, and it was EXACTLY this!

Needless to say I never cleaned my chain like that.
