Z750 Performance
Well guys, I was going to upgrade at the end if this year / early next year, but I've decided to get a 4x4 and hit the beach instead!
So alas I want a little more out of the Zed! I was thinking Headers, PC3 a tune etc..... what else is there and what order should I do it all in.
All the bike has performance wise is a pipe (should have a Leovince SBK pipe on it in a few weeks to replace the Micron one)
I'm also thinking about a steering dampener and maybe upgrading the shocks up the front
Oh and not to forget the new handlebars i have been talking about getting since I got the bike 12 months ago but still haven't gotten around to doing!

Re: Z750 Performance
To be honest these bikes are not built to be performance weapons, & if it is not fast enough for you then get a 10
as for the bars, arent they more cosmetic than performance?
I spent alot of time & money trying to turn my zeddy into a sports bike, when all the time all I had to do was buy a 636 to get what I wanted
Dont expect the mods you have mentioned to make a big diference if you do go down that path.

Oh i know about the 10! oh how i want one! but alas im putting off getting a new bike until i pay off the 4x4!
Yes bars are purely cosmetic haha, but its still in my list of mods!
I'm not looking at an absolute ball tearer of a weapon! But just to tweak the performance a little and make her handle a little better!

Re: Z750 Performance
-1 tooth on front sprocket should give you some cheap thrillls. Dont waste your time trying to get more power out of it, once you've spent 500 for the pc3, 500-1000 on the exhaust, ~$250 for custom map, say 150 for performance air filter - thats nearly 2k. And with the pc3 you'll likely get less tank range and it'll chew more fuel (not proportionate to the extra power).
If it was me I'd spend the money on suspension upgrades and setup, -1 front sprocket and leave it as that.

Re: Z750 Performance
You can't make a Z750 into a superbike, but you can make it a fun weekend scratcher, and having more midrange/less top-end, makes a fun streetbike around town.I like Kawasaki's definition of the Z750:
"The Z750 is equally at home weaving through inner-city traffic, winding through the twisties, or cruising down the highway on a Sunday afternoon."
One mod i haven't done is the -1 tooth on the front sprocket, which would definately tweak the torque a bit. I bought all my performance parts from the US when exchange rate was dollar for dollar, otherwise it wouldn't have been worth the money like phizog said.
I spent $260 on PCIII, $60 on BMC air filter, and $360 for new slip-on exhaust(ebay).
$120 on a custom map, tank range is only 20K's less than standard, 110HP and 51Nm at the wheel, and the powercurve is super smooth, and not snappy when first opening the throttle.
67-FKD, the leo vince SBK pipe will have less back pressure than your micron, so without remapping it will be very crackly, which means the engine is leaning out, which can cause major problems in the longer term. So you'd want a remap for longevity, not just for power, that's why i got mine, the little extra power is a bonus though.
The fork springs sound like a good idea as well, just to stiffen the front a little.

Re: Z750 Performance
I put Renthal MX bars with the brace on mine, looked tough as, but they were too straight and too wide, made it dangerous over 100-120 without a damper.67-FKD wrote:Oh and not to forget the new handlebars i have been talking about getting since I got the bike 12 months ago but still haven't gotten around to doing!
Then i was going to get these bars Nelso recommended, after looking up the specs they sounded good, but then i got some standard Triumph Speed Triple bars which are perfect.Nelso wrote:Mine are the Superbike bar from AuSFR. ( http://ausfr.com.au/cart/shopexd.asp?id=141 ) They are a bit higher and narrower than the Streetbar and is a much more comfortable position but are still a fraction wider than the stock bar.

Re: Z750 Performance
airbox mod and BMC filter in my z1000 made a nice difference, it felt flat before but after both of those mods made the motor feel more alive!!!
I would assume same would go for the z750, so just a few basic mods and you'll be laughing!

Re: Z750 Performance
When I had my Z750: the PC3 gave me about 10 horses but was thirstier (it's a bike, fuel's not an issue), it came w a can (lighter, looks & sounds better) so the only other things I would've considered were the sprockets & the air filter. I had no probs w the standard bars, they don't need padding or to look like a pushy!
King Nicholas. Keeping it unreal.

Re: Z750 Performance
Spose i should have mentioned its already got the KnN filter! Had it when i got it but its always the first mod anyhows haha!
Well i may wait till i get the PC3 then go get it tuned / Mapped then -1 on the front Sprocket, then Maybe investigate the Gixxer front or something similar as robracer did and steering dampener and bars at the same time.

Re: Z750 Performance
I like my Z750, has plenty of punch.
I have thought about a z1000 for about 20secs, why do you need it?
Sydney most streets are 50km/hr, motorways 110km/hr, many cops, traffic, speed cameras, bad drivers, taxi's.
Again can someone justify the extra power a z1000 has?
My Z750 has a LeoVince SBK pipe, K&N Airfilter, +2 on the rear, Fuel Commander, Butchered Airbox.
Plenty of power & zip to get into trouble around Sydney.

Re: Z750 Performance
That is so true gumby but each to their own ..... i have had a heap of litre + bikes in the past & really cant justify the size these days.... lots of touring then yes... but I don't do that sort of riding anymore so the 636 is perfect could still loose the licence in a blink but not as easilygumby190 wrote:Sydney most streets are 50km/hr, motorways 110km/hr, many cops, traffic, speed cameras, bad drivers, taxi's.

750 has enough power to get you into trouble.. but 1000 has enough power to get you out of it
