Motorcycle Strategy
Well yesterday was the day it was finally released, the MRA, VMAC and a few other rider organisations have been waiting on this for 7 months after the final draft was viewed January, no idea why we had to wait but it's out.
Part of the stratgey calls for motorbikes in bus lanes (long overdue here in Vic I reckon), some details re that below.
http://www.theage.com.au/national/motor ... -f5ak.html
The gory details of the launch are available at http://www.mravic.org.au/forum/modules/ ... oryid=1577 and there is a link available from which to download the whole strategy should you desire to read it.
Warning, article contains gratuitous pics of a politician posing next to something he's probably never ridden or dreamed of riding.

Re: Motorcycle Strategy
We are already allowed in NSW to use bus lanes, hope it works out for you Vics
Hopefully this one is implemented throughout Australia

As part of the strategy, VicRoads will also look for the first time at legalising ''filtering'', where motorcycle riders weave between stopped traffic at red lights.

Re: Motorcycle Strategy
ONly when we hit them cause they are in our way''There is no evidence motorbikes pose a hazard to bicycles,''

Why then are they allowed in our car/motorbike lanesBut the Government is firm in its belief motorcycles should not be allowed into bicycle lanes. ''I don't see that as appropriate,''

Re: Motorcycle Strategy
We can only use bus lanes marker "Bus Lane", not "Only Bus" buslanes (which seems to be most of them, and all new ones that I've seen)ijuschill wrote:We are already allowed in NSW to use bus lanes, hope it works out for you Vics

We're allowed to use 'Bus Lane's but not 'Bus Only Lane's AFAIK.ijuschill wrote:We are already allowed in NSW to use bus lanes, hope it works out for you Vics
I'm not sure which ones the article/change is referring to.

Re: Motorcycle Strategy
Yeah what that strategy doesn't reveal, is the Vic Govt's war on all things two wheeled. They, in addition to ALLOCATING 6.2 Million Dollars (I think a Govt spills more on a big night) for improving roadside signage and crash barriers-does that mean more wire rope cheese cutters??- , are also initiating a campaign to clamp down on motorcycle hots spots such as GOR, Black Spur and most likely every other fantastic biking road close to the metro area. They give with one hand and rape with the other! It's all just a bullshit smoke screen so they are seen to be doing something positive, all the while they are going to try and financial rape us all for the slightest indescretion on our fave roads! Maybe I'm just cinical, but the older I get, the less I trust those with the authority!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

Re: Motorcycle Strategy
Marty, i'm with you and in "believe it when I see it" mode too but "I believe" part of the strategy actually mentions WRB's and treatments for same, not before time too, given most of Vic's WRB's use dark green posts with reflectors that have all the reflective abilities of mud... I haven't had a chance to read it yet, plan too tomorrow whilst at work.
