You're more likely to fail the 'attitude test'.

I normally decide if I'm going to give someone a ticket within the first five seconds of speaking to them based purely on their attitude.

There are some exceptions to this but thats the jist of it.

Your 'discretion' would be better served by way of public relations & conflict resolution, you might find the result to be rewarding personally & professionally!

Now don't take me as 'cop bashing' ... i just say it as i saw it... being that FOC & The Rook took the wrong approach and in doing so failed to realise the situation at hand, as they were too busy trying to show off and intimidate. The Rook inspected my Licence and handed it back to me (expired date and all)

FOC started to Threaten EPA orders and the likes and felt the need to critique parts of the bike which were factory fitted (OEM)... I held very little respect for this and deemed it unnecessary as i was polite, cooperative and genuinely embaressed for MY error.

The only redeeming factor of this situation was the NICE, POLITE and UNDERSTANDING snr officer who wrote up the ticket and took me aside to thoroughly explain what the issue was and also explained my rights and the options available to me. He also offered to keep an eye on my parked bike whilst i organised recovery. Not once did he treat me like a POI, HOON or less than human.

His colleagues should take notes.

And as for the 'Att Test' ... drop the BS we breathe the same air, shit the same colour and possibly even flog to the same style of porn... (this i'm not certain of at this point in the conversation however benefit of the doubt will be given... innocent until proven guilty right?!)

You probably didn't even get a notification for renewal from the rta did you?
My wife didn't the last time hers was up - you have to watch it yourself.

unfortunately nil renewal/reminder letters were sent as per RTA protocol ... as i've often received them in the past
the kind lady at the RTA this morning looked it up and confirmed a letter was not sent as it should be and confirmed my address is on file.

However, yes it is our responsibility to maintain the little digits on our cards.
I won't be taking the 5 year option again as it's too easy to lose track of it.. at least if it's annually you're expecting it..

many years ago I was RBT'd coming home from somewhere in my old ambo, with my dog in the front passenger seat (wearing the seat belt) as usual, not very far from home.

The very young and very rude constable asked for my licence(all good), I blew into the bag(all good) then asked me where I had been.
"At dog agility"
He grunts at me, then proceeds to lean bodily into the drivers side window so he can look into the back of the ambo(anyone familiar with F100's will know this requires some forward momentum/force to get high enough)

my dog then lunges at the cop for appearing (to her) to be attacking me . The only reason she didn't connect was that I grabbed her.Cop stumbles backwards into traffic and nearly gets hit by car. I think, Oh #$@#. Very red-faced and now very angry young rude cop comes back to car, but before he can say anything the sgt there puts his hand on his shoulder and said "you deserved that. Go sit in the car."

He then handed me back my licence, apologised to me and wished me a good night. I thought I was gone for all money.

There use to be 2 cops that would get punters in the T2 AM lane on Lane Cove road city bound just before Sydney City MC.
One would be visible & one would be down the last street on the left before the Lane cove road cop, needless to say as soon as the main cop was spotted a left turn would would follow ending in a booking, it was a no through road so I can imagine the punters trying to explain why they were there Stupid thing was it happened every week & there were so many getting caught out This was in the late 80's before the tunnel.

Close, but not quite. They used to have a "spotter' who would identify cars running through the T2 lane illegally, who would then direct them to go around the corner, where copper #2 would proceed to book them.

How do i know this? I was done.
Only reason i was in there in the first place was i had just done a nightshift and was particularly shattered. I figured it was worth running the gauntlet and risking being nabbed (are there point penalties for no passenger?) just so i could try and get home quickly. It worked in my favour though, for that one time i was done, there was at least 20 times i used it without being pinged. Honestly though, i figure although they wouldn't buy the "safety" mention (i didnt even try explaining) it makes sense to get home asap so im off the road and curled up in bed as soon as humany possible & reducing the danger to myself & others.

That is exactly why I give 98% of people the benefit of the doubt and let them off with a warning, unless of course they are an asshole to me. I'm just doing my job, it's not my fault that they broke the law or that they did it where I was looking. Why would I use my discretion if they give me an earful?

A simple "yeah, I was on my phone. I'm an idiot, sorry." "No problem, don't do it again ok? Have a nice day." Not all cops are assholes.

mate not sure if the pic has to do with you, and if it does i hope your injuries were minimal, but my point is for motorbike coppers what they have going for them in the way of safety for torso and legs seems pretty average in an event of a lay down.
