new rta LAMS classification for NINJA 650r??

Post by LordAramid »

Hi!

It looks like the rta has updated their lams list again - i just saw learners versions of both the er 6 and the ninja 650r on the list... woohooo!!

but where are these bikes?? the suzuki website has a LAMS section with their quite gorgeous SV650S lams and the gladius - i went on the kawasaki website and I couldn't see any lams bikes there?? or do we have to buy the full version and just have the engine module restricted??

Does anyone know?? Cause for sure now i'm going to be spending that 10 grand i was going to buy a suzuki with and buy a ninja!

well yeah, 53kW aint exactly learner legal... the bike would have to weigh about 350kgs to keep it under the 150kW/tonne

Could be the model sold in Malaysia - they are 37 kw ( normal ER6n/f is 53 kw ).
I've spent over 40 years of my life riding bikes .... the rest of it, I wasted ..

Can anyone confirm it is possible? and how hard it is to do?

Restriction is usually in the form of a reducing plate between the inlet manifold & the head, well thats how it used to be done, but have no Idea on the newer bikes.
Then it was only a matter of removing the plates & replacing the manifold & carbs. not an easy task for a nube on the spanners but if you are used to tooling around then it should be fine. NOTE: the carbs will need to be rebalanced & possibly rejetted ;)
Oh & welcome to KSRC

restriction easily fixed im sure
On earlier ER6s in other countries they were restricted by a screw in the throttle plate, which limits the travel of the throttle. Aussie ER6s have the hole there with the thread tapped. Undo a screw, full power! :D
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.
