A meter? Charge rate? Could you point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Might have to point you in the direction of an auto electrician if you are asking these questions.zxARGH-250 wrote:A meter? Charge rate? Could you point me in the right direction?

Re: Hey, how's it going?
Strangest thing
so I left the zxr overnight, didn't touch it, and this morning it started up first go.
The previous owner installed this switch to turn on a fan manually, which is meant to turn itself automatically after a certain temp or something (he wanted to keep the bike cool).
Could this fan have drawn extra power off the battery, and as a result of me not riding it very hard, i didn't bring the revs up high enough to recharge the battery?
Does this also mean that if i want it to start up anywhere, i'll need to ride 10/10ths all the time to keep the battery charged?
I'm taking it Clubmans in Tempe for a diagnostic later today; anyone with experience there? My friend's 250RR is there at the moment and he says they're giving him pretty good service.

aaaaaaaaargh welcome... theres a manual on line for the ZXR 250c at www. japi.......something
south american IP address.... . hunt around and see if you can find it

Re: Hey, how's it going?
Hopefully the nightmare is now over, lol
Got a wrenchie to look at it today; put a meter across the terminals, everything seemed fine
turned on the radiator fan (the previous owner fitted a switch so you can turn it on yourself; something about higher compression and bigger carby jets), and the voltage dropped from 12.4-ish all the way down to 10. Guess the fan was sucking too much juice.
All that's left to do is learn how to ride it for a few weeks, and i'll see everyone at the next get together!
