Well guys it's been a couple more weeks, I'm now at the 4 weeks up point of suspension :( It's going alright, the only downside is not 'just being able to pop out or nip round somebodies place'.
Still want to get around to the 10 hospital to see the weapons and someones got a spare '10 rear shock to squeeze into the back of the Zed
Talking of the Zed, it's coming along nicely......
I spent a couple of weekends here and there stripping it down and cleaning it up, front and rear wheels off, cleaned, bearings greased, pads checked, calipers cleaned etc etc. All the plastic and tank off, while it's been off I did the 'Wattie Kleen Air ON/OFF Modification', cheers buddy Bunnings was the place and $3 total outlay :kuda:
On Off How easy could it be

The Yoshi's got some extra special treatment, chopped about 175mm off both the damaged can and the good one, thanks to the fellas down at Mat Mladin for sorting me out with an old Yoshi skin with a spare old school badge on and a new locking band, FOC  Cheers guys.
Wire wheeled, sanded and polished the headers (that horrible dodgy gold with the corrosion and crap all over them) system now looks like a complete stainless, well happy.

I decided to fix up the paint where it needed it, undertail panel was stone chipped really bad and the underside of the tank was original red colour so I thought I would paint it while doing the undertail. Once these bits are done, I'll put the bugger back together again.

All I gotta do then is knock up a new seat cowl, rad guards with intergrated ZX10 blinkers, then get it off for Rego, down for a tune and get the suspension sorted.

I picked up a set of Shift leathers that I'm real happy with, cheers Red Dave, a great pair of Alpinestar SMXr boots at an excellent price and a new Shoei Sever XR1000 helmet, getting happy now :D

So 8 more weeks to go and a fair bit of work, gonna be tough not to take it for a run round the block when it's back together but I will resist

Update in a couple of weeks

Cheers Damo

Thats not the KLEEN mod.. Thats some stupid idea wattie had to put a tap on it in case it didn't work... It always works but he was young and dumb at the time he did his z... You don't need a tap, you'll never turn it on.!!
Just route the 2 reed block ends into each other with one small bit of hose, piss all that other hose and tap off and block the hole in the airbox, a rubber chair end cap fits perfect or just use duct tap and zip tie...
Thats what Wattie has on his 10 now he's a little wiser...

Nice chop on the pipes though...

Davo, I guessed that when I started poking around, the cross pipe at the front of the motor and all the valve inlets could be blocked off. It is messy under there with all that farkin rubber, I may rip it all out. For now on off is good, even if it will never be on. As Hoffy said I may become a tree huggin ferry drivin pot smokin hippy and turn it back on :D

I may not be too liked in the neighbourhood once I start it up with them cans on anyway, so that will detract from my high standing in the community :kuda:

Cheers,

Damo

Hi Damo, congrats on the new bike, going to look really sweet. :)
So i am guessing you are not going to need the belly pan?
will you be intergrating front blinkers with new radiator cowls?
If so i may be intreseted ;)

Pk, yeah mate, I think I'm gonna give the bellypan a miss. Spose a naked should stay as naked as possible.
Mate Ron's coming around on Sunday to take his radiator guards off the ER6, they need painting ;) so while I've got em I'm gonna take a shot off them, I'm pretty sure the blinkers are the same as the ones I've got. If I play with them a bit and retool I may end up with something more interesting.
The bikes coming along well now, finished the paint tidying, sorted the zorst system, pazzos on, grips, new bars, carbon screen and fender eliminator should be finished this week, rear set scuff guards sorted, all the satin black done, radiator fixed up, good strip down clean and rebuild. Gonna order a lift kit for it from UK Ebay next week, shits and giggles really but it may help the handling to lift the back a bit. Gotta have a word with Dave see if we can drop the ZX10r rear shock in at the same time
Got the PC3 software now and found the map for the bike as it is now(well stock Yoshis not shorties), I will run it for a few K's and see how it behaves before farkin around. Think I'm gonna book it in for a dyno.
Blue slip, green slip and rego next  $$$$$
Then all I gotta do is ride it, put a few K's on it, if I don't like the suspension I will work on that, then I spose check the valves will be next on the list (gettin near to 30K).
Good to have something to spend a bit of hard earned on again, keeping me busy to while I'm waiting for my ticket back, 5 weeks to go :kuda:

Cheers,
Damo
