Wind Noise Reduction without Isolation

Formerly "Wind Noise in Full-Face Helmets"(http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 25&t=24356) post I think should be given a wider view. A lot came out of this but I feel the underlying problem was NOT really addressed, which is, not just REDUCING ALL SOUND, but SELECTIVELY reducing WIND NOISE levels. People mentioned various ear plugs, and I've used them all ( I visit plant rooms,etc., all the time at work and use silicone plugs to blog out the wifes snoring, silicone wins every time!) but after trying riding with the silicone plugs in, I HATED it, and took them straight out. The underlying problem is that all these plugs are reducing ALL SOUND. What's needed is something that still let's you hear the motor and some degree of ambient, whilst knocking out all of the annoying WIND noise.
So there's the starting point.

Has anyone had experience with these? They appear to be ideal. But not available locally. I'll buy some and test them, whatever it takes, but if there's something BETTER out there, TELL US ALL, 'cause this is a VERY important issue.

Would be very interested in trying a pair, as I am always on the look out for decent plugs, the ones I am using at the moment block out all sound.
Seeing as you are a local maybe we split the delivery cost & get a pair each for evaluation?

If I push the front of my helmet down it cuts out about half of the wind noise

There is a cover that fits around you neck and wraps around the bottom of the helmet which is supposed to reduce wind noise considerble. The idea is that most of the wid noise travels up, and so bloccking this area, the noise is reduced. Similar effect to Tim dropping his chin. I'll see if I can find one later...

I'm looking for a good pair of noise cancelling, in-ear buds. I want to be able to hear people talk without taking me helmet off or taking my ear plugs out.

I doubt you'll find a pair of noise cancelling/filtering ear phones that remove wind noise and let engine noise through. The engine noise is at such a frequency, and constant enough to be considered ambient noise, and will be cancelled out aswell.

This is what i was going to suggest as well. There are two options as i see it. Either get something like a BMW lid (neighbour has one, says its the quietest lid he's ever had). Or option b of "roll your own". get some thin and stretchy neoprene. Measure the gap you have around the bottom of the lid to your neck and modify the bottom of your lis and block the air rushing past.

I know that when i wear a necksock well over half the wind noise goes away. Your other option is to be a girly man and wear a scarf (fuckit i do it sometimes!)

I've found that any "noise filtering" earphones/earplugs can't tell the difference between constant noise you WANT (i.e.: engine noise) and loud constant noise you don't want (i.e.: wind noise).
Will be keeping a keen eye on this thread.

I have no problem hearing my bike with regular foam ear-plugs in and always wear either them or my in-ear buds with ipod on long rides
