What help do you want?

Post by Cath »

Recently, a few of us did a slow ride and some basic skills practice for new members. This was organised after some comments about lack of confidence were noticed on the forum, however I'm sure for every outgoing person who lets everyone know they need help ;) there's a few more who keep quiet and don't ask.

So I thought, instead of hoping for people to notice that someone would like some help, I thought I'd put this thread up as a place to ask for help.

So, what sort of help do people want?* Tell us - there's plenty of helpful people on these forums! Just be aware that (human nature) you are more likely to get help if you're an active member, not someone who joined solely to get free help.

I think this would work best if this thread was reserved for the asking of help, and responses be confined to a reply with a link to another thread - i.e, Someone from Brisbane asks for help in going for a slow ride, hoping to practice riding smoothly, or corner entries, or whatever. Then someone from Brisbane who is willing to help might start a thread for a slow practice ride, and reply to the post with a link to the new thread they've started - then that thread can fill up with a bunch of posts "I'm in", "Can't come now, bike broke down" etc, instead of this thread. Someone from Melbourne asks for help in basic suspension set-up - Someone else who is willing to help out can post a thread offering a few hours of their time and the use of their garage and tools, and the organising (as well as links on how to set-up your suspension, etc) can take place in the other thread. Someone from Sydney asks for help in lane-splitting on the back wheel - just pm Blurr, ok.

So, what are some things you'd like help with? Licence test skills help? Slow rides with a group? Buddy rides? Basic suspension set-up? How to do your own oil changes? Basic maintenance? Practical advice on riding gear? etc... Some will be online help (i.e, people posting their experiences or how-to guides), but I expect most of it will be in person, so please make sure the location field in your profile is filled in!

*Bike-related help please. We aren't pyschologists, sex therapists or escort services, 6maniac

See Lady Cath and you wonder why we wuuuuuuvvvvvvvv you so much and post how bloddy fantastic you guys are seriously I can't thank you guys enough nor give enough praise for the fantastic generousity you guys give. As I have said before there is no way I would be riding the way I am today and with the confidence I have if it wasn't for you and Dave when you took me out for the first time up to the slab, I will never forget that day (I am sure you two won't either, don't think you ever met someone so hyper ay) I swear I owe it all to you guys and for all the verbal advice others have given and answered questions as well.

Ok sorry bumped thread a bit, but just had to put that in.

I need help with rear wheel steering on the racetrack - seriously, every time I get the tail out on the gas I poo in my pants & chop the throttle & nearly highside myself.
I can do it on a dirtbike in the bush all day long & could slide the rear (rain tyre) on the 'Motard easy when I raced it but can't transfer that to a road/race bike.
Can anyone here do it easily & at will? If so, what's the secret? Practice? Or do I just need to HTFU ?
Anybody got Anthony Gobert's phone No.?

Plus a ZX7 & a few ZXR Ls & ZX9 Bs & Cs in various stages of completion.

Apologies, gonna get a bit warm and fuzzy.

Dizzi I gotta say it's great how thankful you are for the crews assistance. People are always willnig to give their time and effort if they know it's appreciated, and there's no doubt you do ;)

If you keep at it one day you'll be able to do what Cath and Dave have done for you with someone else. :kuda:

KSRC is a better place for your positive vibes, gratefulness and long sentances....

..speaking of that - where's 6maniac?

you get that by following people a little faster than you. NOT riding in front of them. 8)
