New fixed cameras QLD

The Queensland Government has announced six speed cameras will be installed on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and at Ipswich.

The new fixed speed cameras are part of a road safety initiative the Government announced in November.

They will be operational by July at Nicklin Way at Warana, the Sunshine Motorway at Mooloolaba, the Gold Coast Highway at Labrador and Broadbeach, and the Warrego Highway at Rosewood and Muirlea.

The Government says the sites were selected because of the high number of crashes in those areas.

There are already three speed cameras in place at Kangaroo Point and Tarragindi in Brisbane and north of the city at Burpengary on the Bruce Highway.

Each day about 170 motorists are caught speeding at those three locations.

OT but I have admit after becoming a new resident in QLD...... QLD drivers shit me to tears! I have lived in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Tassie..... yet have never experienced the level of fuckwitism on the roads that I have since moving up here in April.......

Apparently the right lane is not for overtaking..... it is for cruising at about 5 - 10 km/h below the speed limit......preferably sitting beside or in close proximity to cars in the other lanes.... that way you are certain to achieve your aims of disrupting the flow of traffic...... it doesn't matter if you see someone closing from behind..... no need to adjust your speed or position.... just hold formation, because the road is yours!

Also, that person hasn't left a safety gap...... that is merely an invitation to swerve in front of them because they love to be cut off. In QLD, because we have no daylight savings..... our sleep patterns remain unaltered for our entire lives... so therefore we have the quickest reaction times known to man..... almost super human.... this enables us to sit three metres behind the car in front while travelling at 110 km/h..... this is not unsafe because we are the worlds greatest drivers..... the entire F1 grid could be filled with QLD'ers, that is how good we are!

I must agree with you about those driving in the right hand lane, but it is a fairly recent development, mainly since all these bloody roadworks have started. I could generalise about those who drive like that, but I would surely offend someone. And don't get me started about daylight savings, we've had one referendum to say we don't want that stupid arrangement here, but every year they keep bringing it up.....

But back to topic, how unobservant (least harsh word I could think of) do you have to be to get caught by a fixed speed camera that have signs advising that they are there

Jesus they have speed cam's in wheelie bins here and your worried about signs

I believe that particular clause was only valid until 1st July this year. We will soon see how this pans out but I believe the little sign near a mobile camera is not a legislative requirement either. The newer cameras also have IR flash so you don't see the thing go off.
