mechanics for older bikes

Post by filofilo85 »

I own an 89 gpz900r and contacted my kawasaki dealer to put my bike in for servicing and new tyres. I was told they would do the tyres but were not interested in dealing with servicing an old bike.I understand that older bikes may create problems with when it comes to parts but if its a basic service I don't see any problem. I have found another dealer who will do the work (Honda dealer) . For future reference are there any outlets in the melbourne metro area where they don't mind working on older machines?

Shit...thats pretty screwed. I would've thought that they'd have a bit of pride in servicing an "older" model....and 1989 ain't even that old. You're probably better off with a non dealer though as it'll save you some dough. The Melbourne lads should be able to point you somewhere.

Good luck

Whereabouts are you?

There used to be a guy called Graeme that worked in a Suzuki dealership in Bendigo that was pretty switched on as far as Kawasakis went (he was an ex-Kawasaki mechanic). I'm pretty sure he'd be happy enough to look at it.

I took my ZZR600 in there to get him to work on it, the Suzuki guys didn't mind at all .

Ratmick beat me to the punch. I know of a couple of guys that would happily service your bike here in Sydney, and also know a few places that wouldn't touch it with a barge pole simply because of the age.

there's a bloke just to the left of the light rail overpass heading out of town on city rd,..........stop at the bridge and look left..... theres a motorcycle drawn on the facade of the shed. he's a gruff old bastard. I was recommended to him by a member of the preston MC club, was treated well on both price and service at the time..couple years ago now......if your in the neighbourhood drop in and have a chat
