What Engine oil do you use in your bike

Post by tuffer »

Hey everyone, I was just wondering what engine oil you use in your bike and why, I know, I know - you may be thinking not another one of these type of threads again ! , but trust me, I don't want to get too technical on this subject, unless of course you want to ;) , I just need a few Ideas :? cause my 6 is due for a service and most of the dealerships here in Syd exclusively use Motul 5100 I'm quite happy with it but it does seem to need replacing every 3000 K's, please share your thoughts.
I ride because it's more satisfying. I ride because it's more fun. I ride because my Mum told me not to. I ride because as long as I'm paying attention, it's safer than driving.

Mate all our bikes are Japanese, maybe rice bran oil would be better.

I just put Motul 5100, bike likes it as far as I can tell.
Here's where I asked the same question a few weeks ago.

Why does it NEED replacing every 3000? My tiny understanding of the topic is that it depends on how much you ride in a given time, what your bike is, and how you ride?

Eg -
Riding 5000k in one month? then change your oil once a month
Riding 2000k in six months? then change your oil every six. Something like that.

My bike users manual says every 5000 I think.

Now for the people with real knowledge ;)

Depends on how many K's you have on it. For the first 6K I would use mineral oil, after that semi synthetic
