Service/suspension in Melbourne?

Post by GDB »

Hello All

I have just purchased a black 03 ZX6R and are interested if anyone has any recommendations as to where to go to get the 6000km service. Also as you are all aware the suspension is way to hard - As I weigh 66kg I am also interested in getting the suspension properly set up and are looking for somewhere good to go - fianally has anyone installed a steering damper as the front wants to shake its head at any given chance and if you have installed a damper what sort and are you happy/unhappy - Please also feel free to advise anywher not to go if you have had a bad experiance - thanks in advance - Regards Glen

Welcome, i have same bike and I know EXACTLY how you feel about suspension hassles. Been trying to get mine sorted for about 6 weeks now, and having all sorts of issues getting a new spring for it
It was supposed to go in monday, but apparently the spring didn't arrive, so i have to wait at least 2 more weeks..
Don't have any headshake issues with it :)

(called the brat cos it's small, noisy and trieds to throw me off)

For a suspension fix, try PTR...they do roadbike setups for a reasonable price. Once set up properly, you'll probably find it doesn't really need a damper.

Try Brighton Kwaka for the service.

For suspension I'd recommend the guys at Suspensions R-US. See Tony there.

And I wouldn't bother with the steering damper until after you've done that.. You'll find the shake is just the front well lifting.. so give it more and that'll fix that... *JUST KIDDING* once the rear is sofened up abit you'll prob find the front will settle down alot.

Glen

I am with Dan here (btw it does helps to know where you are)
try Brighton for the service
speak to Phil (runs workshop) or Ken (who owns the place)
tell 'em you are a KSRC member

and Susps-r-us for the ride issue
or maybe Phil Tainton racing out on Stud rd
both are very good!

cheers
